New Hotel opened in 2026

Thompson Seville (5*)

This five-star hotel opened in September 2026, with 101 rooms including 22 suites, restaurant with terrace area, lobby café/bar, rooftop bar and swimming pool, flexible meeting/event spaces, and a gym. The hotel features an outstanding art collection, including contemporary paintings and photography, plus two murals – one in the restaurant, showing Seville’s iconic buildings, and the other depicting the most celebrated flamenco performers.

The Hyatt hotel chain manages Thompson Sevilla, which is housed in the former National Police station building on Plaza de la Gavidia, under the Thompson Hotels brand. It is their fourth property from this brand in Europe, and the second in Spain. This hotel is also Hyatt's debut in Seville.

Reconstruction work commenced in 2023, when Hoteles Color Especial owned by the Mexican family Díaz-Estrada was granted a phased building licence. The building, originally constructed by architect Ramón Montserrat in 1962 in the Modernist Movement style on the site of the old San Hermenegildo Barracks, was rejected by public opinion at the time as an attack on Seville's history. Abandoned from 2003, the building was listed as part of memoria democratica (democratic memory) in 2017. Interestingly the ground plan, with two courtyards, is rooted in traditional Sevillian architecture.

Serras Sevilla (5* GL)

Only the fourth in this luxury boutique hotel chain, Serras Seville opened in September 2026. The hotel is housed in the historic Casa Álvaro Dávila on Avenida de la Constitución, opposite the cathedral. On the ground floor it houses Fismuler restaurant, of the renowned Madrid-based family group.

The five-star GL hotel has 43 rooms and suites, a rooftop terrace with small swimming pool, gym and café/bar.

The restoration of this building, designed by Aníbal González using the same locally made flat, orange-yellow bricks (ladrillo fino) as his obra maestra Plaza de Espana, took three years and cost around 45 million euro. Most rooms, and the rooftop terrace, have close-up views of the western and north-western façades of the cathedral. The rooftop terrace has original ceramic finials and a tower which is a landmark feature of this building.

Cristine Bedfor Sevilla Boutique Hotel (4*)

In the old regionalist style theatre known as Cine Trajano, between calles Amor de Dios and Trajano. The building was designed by Aníbal González, and both façades feature with typical neo-Mudéjar details: scalloped arched windows and sebka panelled designs.

Décor in the hotel is full of patterns, sometimes several together on a single piece of furniture, and often in the 28 compact rooms: each is themed in either red, yellow, green or blue. The signature shade is a deep, warm terracotta pinkish-red, and this along with the toile de jouy print on beds and walls are inspired by Seville’s Golden Age, the 16th century period of discovery. There’s a small rooftop pool and roof terrace, and one suite has its own private pool.

This hotel is owned by Cristina Lonza as part of a small group, with two other properties in Majorca and Malaga.

Casa del Limonero (2*)

Another privately-owned hotel, in this case by a French art collector. In two adjoining mansions in Barrio Santa Cruz, this has 14 rooms, each with its own complete theme (think bullfighting, Asia, Mudejar, safari), from the furniture and rugs to artworks. The contemporary art is so varied and intriguing that it’s like staying in a gallery. Staff have a catalogue of all the pieces so guests can enquire about those in their room or the public areas.

One of its best features, in our opinion, is the garden with fruit trees and full-length tiled pool so you can have a proper swim.

Confidencia, Sevilla, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel (4*) – Marriott International

Next to the Querencia Hotel, it will have a good view from its roof terrace of the regionalist Adriática building, an iconic building with neo-Mudéjar elements.

El Foro, a Luxury Collection Hotel (5*)

This Marriott hotel, opening in spring 2027, is part of the urban and cultural development Vera Sevilla, which will include offices, shops, green spaces, a flamenco theatre/tablao, and a cultural centre. The 250-million-euro development will regenerate the former Altadis tobacco factory, unused since 2006.

A fire at the Vera development in summer 2026 caused the opening, scheduled for autumn 2026, to be delayed.

The hotel will have 210 guest rooms, including 47 suites, and 79 rooms and suites with private terraces. It will feature a rooftop restaurant, pool and cocktail bar overlooking Triana, a signature restaurant, and a spa offering traditional treatments.
