Fashion in Marbella

El Cable Teleferico

Playa el Cable (Cable Beach) takes its name from the overhead cable "El Cable Teleferico" runway that transported buckets of iron ore down from the Peñoncillo mine on the Sierra Blanca to ships moored offshore. If you look out to the sea you can't miss seeing the large anchor end tower of the line.

Moraga

In Marbella at various points along the beach you can find a number of fishing boats filled with sand which are used for moragas. A moraga is a night-time barbeque party, usually held on the beach. It is traditional to Malaga province, but is also found in other parts of Andalucia. A moraga is differentiated from a barbeque in that the food being cooked is espeto (stick) of sardines.

Marbella has a family friendly tren turistico (tourist train) that runs all year round. It travels around the principal sights of the town taking about 25 minutes.

Market started in October 2016. It has organic products, handmade and homemade things, cheeses, veggies and fresh fruits. Located in El Capricho Center next to El Corte Ingles branch, near Plaza Bocanegra and across from The Senator Hotel.

Six Marbella Watchtowers

There are about 100 different watchtowers (Torre Vigia or Torre Atalaya or Torre Almenara) along the coast of Southern Spain. Some are of Moorish origins others from date from the later Christian re-conquest period. All with the purpose of looking out for invaders from the South. Los Tres Jardines park

Parque de los Tres Jardines (Three Gardens Park) in San Pedro de Alcántara was opened in October 2012 and it is located in the low lying flood plains of the River Guadaliza to the east of the town on the site of an old nursery.

Plaza Bocanegra

The square - or rather a traffic roundabout - at the start of the Golden Mile was named after one of Marbella's founders, local priest Monseñor Rodrigo Bocanegra (1908-1972).

Clinics in Marbella

There are a number of privately operated heath clinics in Marbella for patients to go without referal as an alternative to the state health service.  The state run facility is called the 'Ambulatorio' and  called Centro de Salud Leganitos in Plaza Leganitos north of the old town, there are smaller Consultorio La Campana Avenida Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer in the Nueva Andalucia area, Centro de Salud San Pedro in Avenida Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, and to the east of the town centre Centro de Salud  Las Albarizas in Avenida Las Albarizas 1, and to the east Consultorio La Chapas in Calle Pinsapo.

Marbella - Costa del Sol Hospital

The Costa del Sol Hospital on the main A-7 coast road 7km east of Marbella center, is one of the best-equipped hospitals in Spain. Inaugurated in December 1993, the hospital is run by an independent company on behalf of the (SAS) Andalucian Health Authorities intil 2023. It was set up as a pilot scheme to improve the efficiency and quality of services, under a modern structure or organisation.

Gran Senda de Malaga

The Gran Senda de Malaga (Great Malaga path) is a long distance footpath that encircles the entire province of Malaga. It has been given the footpath number GR-249 and is divided into 35 stages averaging 18km nominally starting at Malaga City and more or less following the provincial boundary in an anti-clockwise direction. Each stage starts and finishes in a town or village.
