Jimena de la Frontera - Restaurants

Restaurants

Although it’s a fairly rural village, Jimena has several well-established restaurants, as well as some smaller bars and cafes found tucked away in its close network of streets. Each restaurant offers typical Spanish and Andalusian dishes, some utilizing the specific local and natural ingredients of the area such as the different varieties of wild mushrooms which grow nearby.

El Anon
This serves Spanish and international cuisine made with local, and, wherever possible, organic products. The food draws influences from Morocco, Lebanon, Russia, Indonesia, and Greece. Classic tapas can be enjoyed on the roof terrace. Groups can share dishes from the main menu, as well as the tapas on offer and order a variety of drinks at the bar. The restaurant’s signature cocktail is the mojito and well worth a try. The hostal’s bar, with its steam engine prints decorating the walls, is a traditional place to visit in the evening.

Cuenca
Cuenca Restaurant offers typical local dishes. It is located on Avenida de los Deportes (Av. los Deportes, 21) opposite a supermarket, just before the ascent to the main section of the village. Popular dishes include venison with chanterelles, ribs of lamb, and beef entrecote. It is conveniently situated between the older and newer parts of the village, making it a perfect stop off if you’re exploring the area by foot. In October 2021 Cuenca received Gold Medal from Horeca, (Provincial Federation of Hospitality Entrepreneurs) "in recognition of a family business that after four generations celebrates its 100 years at the service of the diner this year, being a national benchmark of the traditional cuisine of the best quality ".
