Arab Baths in Granada

The Arab Baths are one of the most important historic and architectural aspects of Granada, as they are symbolic evidence of the city's religious turmoil all those centuries ago. The baths were built by the Muslims because they believed water was a symbol of purity, and so used it to cleanse their bodies, whilst the Christians.

La Térmica

Described as a "cultural epicenter", the Térmica is a central public creative space where local residents and visitors can learn and exchange creative ideas. They can do this through the many exhibitions and regular workshops, lectures and concerts held by the centre.

Plaza de Toros (La Malagueta)

La Malagueta itself was built in 1874, by the architect Joaquín Rucoba. The first fight took place on 11th June 1876, and the matadors who fought were Rafael Molina, Antonio Carmona, Luque El Gordito, and Manuel Rodriguez. A century later in 1976 the site was declared an Historic Artistic Monument, and in 1981, it was declared an Official Site of Cultural Interest.

Palacio Episcopal / Bishops Palace

The Palacio Episcopal houses a small collection of religious paintings and effigies. A permanent exhibition called "Ars Sacra" is part of the patromony of the Malaga province dioceses and has been collected from a number of churches.

Santuario Virgen de la Cabeza, Andujar

The Santuario de la Virgen de la Cabeza is the home of the image of the Virgen de la Cabeza, patron saint of Andújar. Virgin de la Cabeza is the second most popular festival in Andalucia with up to 250,000 pilgrims.

Cadiz City Carnival Poster 2025

The vote for the poster for Carnival 2025 in Cadiz has been mired in controversy. One of the entries was disqualified for using artificial intelligence, and the vote was postponed after the discovery of possible plagiarism in another poster. This turned out not to be the case, so three of the four finalists went through to the final stage, where a public vote would determine the winner, who would receive a prize of 6,000 euros.

Cadiz City Carnival Poster 2024

As one of Spain's major ports during the 16th century, Cadiz copied the carnival of Venice, a city with which it had much trade, and since then it has become the liveliest and most dazzling carnival town in mainland Spain, famous for its amusing and creative characters and satirical song groups.

Estepona Big Wheel

The  40 metre high panoramic Ferris Wheel was a temporary attraction in Estepona and was in operation until early October 2024. It was dismantled over the second fortnight in October 2024.

Starlite Festival Marbella 2024

The Starlite Festival is a three month-long music and cultural event held in June, July and August at the Cantera de Nagüeles, in Marbella. It is now established as one of the important annual social and entertainment events in Spain. First and last dates of currently confirmed concerts are 14th June to 31st August 2024.

Here is a look at some of the most popular specialities. Once upon a time they were only available in December and January, but that is changing. Nevertheless, it's only during the holiday season that you'll see them in such large amounts. In fact, in most supermarkets you can even buy them in bulk.

Antequera Dolmens

Just outside Antequera you can visit three 5,000-year-old dolmens: Menga Dolmen (the largest in Europe) and Viera Dolmen, which are both located just outside the town, while El Romeral Dolmen is a few km away. These three prehistoric burial chambers represent some of the largest and most complete megalithic structures in Europe.

Several apartment rentals are available in Úbeda, Spain. Options range from those in 16th and 18th-century buildings to a modern apartment. All offer air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
