Ermita de San Roque

The Baroque-style chapel dates from the sixteenth century. In 1582, when the town suffered a plague epidemic, the Cabildo, meeting with the Priesthood, decided to pray to the Saint to extinguish the disease.

Avocado Gazpacho

Soak the bread in water to cover, then squeeze it out. Place in blender or processor with the pulp from the peeled avocados, the onion, green pepper, cucumber and salt. Process until puréed. Add the oil and lemon juice and a little of the water. Pour into a tureen or pitcher and dilute with additional water. Chill. Serve the gazpacho garnished with chopped red pimiento.

Walking and Hiking in Marbella

There are plenty of opportunities in Marbella for walking and hiking. Thes are both in the town's parks and gardens or along the seafront prom. Further affield hiking up the concha mountain is a popular achievement.

Ermita de San Sebastián

Built in the eighteenth century, the chapel has a rectangular floor plan and is covered with a gabled roof.

Casarabonela

Casarabonela geographically belongs to the Hoya de Málaga valley and the fertile valley that leads down to the coast, although the upper reaches of the municipal district touch on the mountainous region of Ronda and it falls in the administrative district of Yunquera.

Ermita de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno

A mosque from the Nasrid period (twelfth to thirteenth centuries) consecrated to Christian worship in 1489, first as Ermita de Santiago and later as Ermita de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno. It is the only Almohad enclosure in Spain that, despite the time and aggressions endured, preserves the oratory with its quibla and part of the ornamentation that now decorates the doorway of the mirhab.

Opium Beach Club

The beach club called Opium opened for the 2018 summer season and is run by the Bordas brothers: Ramón and Javier (manager of Barcelona football club). HiFunky Buddha Beach, Funky Budha Banus, Seven, Kube and Opera.  In 2017 the site was opened as Funky Buddha Beach.   Opium Marbella has a swimming pool, sun beds and bar area. Its unusual feature is the elevated nature of the beach club, all supported on wooden decking with excelent sea views and views to Marbella.

Teba

High on a rocky saddle in the mountains east of Ronda, some 15km north of Ardales, the small (pop: 4,000) town of Teba has one of the most extraordinary historical connections of any of Andalucía's pueblos. Like many of its neighbours - although Teba doesn't have that many neighbours in this wild, semi-agricultural mountain region - Teba has a history stretching back to Roman and Neolithic times. Its true to claim to fame.

Language Schools

Of the many ways to learn Spanish in Spain and get a good foundation in grammar and pronunciation, while having fun in the process is to attend a language school. A good course will give you the grounding you need to boost your confidence when practicing the language in 'real life' later.

Iglesia Parroquia de Santa María

The Parish Church dates from the sixteenth century. Its strong tower stands out, built in the middle of the sixteenth century to defend the Christians from the attacks of the Moors. In 1965, the Church was the film set for the movie ‘Death Had a Price’, in which some local women appeared as extras. Located in Plaza de España.
