Atlanterra

Atlanterra, in Cadiz province, is an exclusive urbanisation situated 30km north of Tarifa (and within the municipal boundry) but access is by the only road leading south from the small fishing village of Zahara de los Atunes, which is 10km south of Barbate separated by military land and the salt marshes.

Shelagh Tennant

Joan Hunt

The founder of Cudeca, Joan Hunt, who died in 2021 at the age of 92, was one of the most inspirational pioneers in the field of palliative care in Southern Spain. She arrived in Málaga in 1984 with the idea of retiring with her husband, Fred, but unbeknown to her at that time, this would be the beginning of a new era for both Joan and the Costa del Sol.

Horacio Lengo Martinez

Horacio Lengo Martinez, an eccentric and rather unstable painter who eventually committed suicide, was born in the Plaza de San Miguel in Torremolinos in 1838. He was the father of Clara Lengo - an artist who gained considerably fame in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries - and uncle of famed cartoonists, Tomás and Francisco Sancha Lengo.

John Lennon

The first interesting connection between John Lennon and Andalucía was his trip to Torremolinos with The Beatles' manager, Brian Epstein, in the summer of 1963. They spent two weeks there on holiday together, partly because Torremolinos was more accepting of gay people like Epstein, than Liverpool was at the time.
