Aguilón Golf Course

The verdant colour of the fairways and greens contrasts spectacularly with the backdrop of the hillsides of the Sierra Aguilón at this well designed course that integrates perfectly into its natural environment. With more than 100 bunkers, six large lakes and numerous natural gullies to negotiate, playing a round here is an unforgettable experience. It is a very attractive course with wonderful views over the Mediterranean, and although the general layout is a comfortable one, players of all levels will find their game challenged in different ways.

Casa Morisca

This three-star hotel was originally a morisco residence – Moors who stayed on after the Christian reconquest by the Catholic monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella. With just 14 rooms, the beautifully restored Granada house epitomises the intimate atmosphere of the Albaicin, with its narrow streets and centuries-old houses. The interior courtyard has a morisco pool which dates from when the house was first built.

Hostals & Hostels in Jerez

Jaén is a city that every lover of Andalucia should visit, enjoy and - if possible - spend a good deal of time getting to know. Not only does the city have an ancient and fascinating history, but the castle that towers over its winding streets offers some of the most quintessentially Andalusian views there are to be had.

El Coronil

El Coronil is home to the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Consolación that uses 'tridacna' muscle shells, known to be the largest species in the world, as baptismal fonts. Birth Procedures

Giving birth in Spain is not quite like doing so in the US or Northern eurosspe. To begin with, there is far less emphasis on patient involvement in the process - at least at public centres. If you go this route, expect decisions to be made for you and expect to be told what to do and when to do it.

Antiguo Convento de los Jesuitas

The construction of this building began in 1621 for the establishment of the Order of the Society of Jesus, on the condition that a College of Latin and Science be established to educate the children of the local aristocracy. In the nineteenth century, it became a Municipal Hospital.

Buddhist Stupa

The Benalmádena stupa was designed to be the largest Buddhist stupa in the western world. The story behind the stupa goes back to 1990 when a Buddhist master came to Spain to give talks to the faithful in Vélez-Málaga. In Vélez, there is a Buddhist meditation centre.

History of Estepona

In Estepona various tools have been found made from local flint or quartzite using methods attributed to the Neanderthal era. Since we know the now-extinct Neanderthals lived in Gorham's cave in Gibraltar it raises the possibility that 30,000 years ago they were the first human (or at least humans' relatives) inhabitants of Estepona. These tools have been found in the Corominas and at Arroyo Vaquero.

History of Espelúy

Espelúy has an impressive legacy from prehistoric times. Among the numerous settlements established locally throughout time, that of Las Tiesas stands out, a town from the third millennium BC, evidenced by remains of circular huts and slags, testimony to its metallurgical activity.

Jerez Airport

Affectionately known as an airport with Solera, after the famous method of producing Sherry. This is a quiet airport looking a little tired but a perfect alternative to Sevilla with access to Jerez, Cadiz, Tarifa and the Costa de la Luz. It is also just an alternative for the western end of the Costa del Sol being 90 min motorway drive to Sotogrande or Estepona.
