MARBELLA / DESIGN & ART

(To be Confirmed by the Organisers)
Marbella / Design and Art is an international (mainly interior) design fair in Marbella which has combined with the Marbella /Art fair. Marbella / Design was first held in 2018 as a sister event to the successful ART / Marbella and has always taken place in the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos Since 2021 it has taken place over 11 days in early Novevember.
Marbella / Design is the brainchild of Alejandro Zaia, the Argentinean co-founder of the world's leading Latin American modern and contemporary art fairs - PINTA New York (which has relocated to Miami) and PINTA London (which re-launched in 2016 as Crossroads).
The event's board members are Patricia Cardona de Zietz, Teresa Sapey, Alejandro Zaia, Sebastian Valdez, Manuel Diaz Cebrian and Paloma Gómez Marín.
As well as the exhibition stands, each morning there is a series of presentations on the theme of contemporary design. In 2018 these were: Architecture & Design by Deyan Sudjic and Teresa Sapey; Objects & Design by Frank Stephenson, Borja Borrero and Sarah Miller; and Art and Design by Oscar Mariné and Dionisio González.
Sarah Miller, an English journalist, spoke about new concepts in luxury design in hotels that are radically opposed to traditional luxury.
Marbella / Design is not a tourist-orientated event as such: it is primarily for industry professionals. However, anybody with a genuine interest in top-quality contemporary design or wishing to see how a top-quality art fair is arranged - or simply wanting to cool off from the heat of a Marbella spring - is welcome to take a look around. The entrance fee set at 15€ is designed to ensure this.
Marbella / Design sister event was launched in Marbella in 2018 and has traditionally taken place in September. In 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic the Art / Marbella was postponed and the two events ran concurrently. As Alejandro Zaia said "We could have canceled both events and continued next year" so it will be interesting to see if the September date isfavourable. Presumably it was not, in 2021 the Art / Marbella and Marbella Design ran concurrently again but for 10 days from 4 to 14 November 2021 and again 03 Nov to 13 Nov 2022, 02 Nov to 12 Nov 2023<
