Museo Histórico-Etnológico de Mijas
Located in the old Town Hall and inaugurated in 1995, the museum recreates the old Mijas. Tools for farming, fishing, olive oil pressing, winemaking can be viewed.
The building features two sculptures of Hercules at the main entrance, the work of the French sculptor T. Sporrer, made in 1916.
The museum houses temporary exhibitions of painting, photography and history and organizes talks, colloquia, competitions and other activities. Traveling art collections and local crafts are also on display.
In the museum you will also find a replica of the bedroom where Manuel Cortés Quero, El Topo de Mijas, was in hiding for 30 years.
The permanent collection is organized into 10 sections with different themes. On the ground floor are the rooms dedicated to the mule powered olive oil mills, the winery, the bakery and the mountains. The Carmen Escalona room is dedicated to a traditional house configuration. On the third floor are the rooms dedicated to the loom weaving and carpentry.Entrance
