Parroquia de San Juan bautista en Nigüelas
The cornice is made of limestone from Cónchar, as are the two Doric-style doorways and the semicircular arches. Inside, the Mudejar coffered ceiling, made of pine from the town of Albuñuelas, stands out. It was rebuilt after the fire that occurred during the Moorish rebellion of 1568. The nave is separated from the main chapel by a large, semicircular triumphal arch. The coffered ceiling features a large carved pineapple adorned with muqarnas. The baroque altarpiece dates to the end of the eighteenth century. It is gilded and polychrome, and its structure comprises three separate streets with elegant, profusely decorated stipes. The temple houses magnificent sculptures dating from the sixteenth to the twentieth century, including a notable carving of the patron saint by the renowned sculptor José Risueño. The interior walls are adorned with paintings from the Granada School, some of which are highly valuable. It is located on Calle Trinidad.
