Alejandro, Michelin Star restaurant in Roquetas de Mar (closed permanently)
Alejandro restaurant gained its Michelin star in 2009 and, although lost it for a year in 2013, maintained it subsequently until the 2021 awards. The restaurant closed in October 2022.
According to Ideal newspaper, since 2012 head chef Alejandro Sanchez had directed the restaurant from a distance, first from Hong Kong and then from Mexico. His parents, Encarnación Ruiz and Juan Sánchez, ran the establishment.
Alejandro created exquisitely presented dishes bursting with flavour, making this restaurant an absolute delight and an experience in itself. The restaurant sourced ingredients for its food locally; advantageously positioned next to the port of Roquetas de Mar, where local chefs can choose from a wide variety of freshly caught seafood to use in their dishes.
The interior of Alejandro had a simple yet elegant design. The kitchen was easily visible for anyone who likes to watch the chefs at work in preparing their meals. The restaurant also boasted an impressive wine collection.
