Calahonda has not been subject to large developments like has been the case for some parts on the Costa Tropical and much of the Costa del Sol and therefore the coastal village has managed to preserve its' traditional identity. Calahonda can therefore provide a welcome escape from other areas on the Andalusian coastline where tourism can be overwhelming, in the summer months especially.
Despite more modern developments being erected in the area to feed the demand for tourism in Andalucia, they have, on the whole, been built to try to respect and conform to the architecture representative of Calahonda. Accommodation in Calahonda varies from beach side apartments that enjoy coastal sea views, to apartments in the centre of the village, overlooking the traditional Spanish streets below. Slightly more inland you will find family chalets for those who require a bit more space.
