Casa Grande
Also known as the Castillo-Palacio de los Condes de Padul, or simply El Castillo, this 16th-century civil palace was built on the site of a fortified house. Its severe Baroque architecture, devoid of decorative embellishments, attracts attention due to its elegant proportions, balanced construction, and the simple interplay of volumes at different levels, culminating in its pointed ends. A plaque on the front commemorates the defence carried out by Martín Pérez de Aróstegui in 1569 against a large crowd of Turks, Moors and Moriscos who revolted. The palace was rebuilt in 1613 by Antonio de Aróstegui, Secretary of State to Philip III. It is located on Calle Cubo.
