Ayamonte Beaches

Ayamonte is the westernmost town on the Costa de la Luz with the last beaches before the Portuguese border. The area boasts two main beaches:

Playa Isla Canela

Isla Canela is the nearerst beach resort, just five minutes' drive away from the centre of Ayamonte. It boasts a particularly wide 5.5km stretch of sandy beach, with chiringuitos (summer beach bars), parasols and hammocks for hire and showers. It is a fast-growing resort, with many new holiday apartment blocks, as well as a big hotel, the Ríu Canela, and a golf course. However, it also has extensive sand dunes and marshes home to abundant wildlife, as well as being popular with those who enjoy watersports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. It can also be reached by a bike path that is also frequently used by rollerbladers.

Playa Punta del Moral

The kilometer stretch of fine golden sand and calm estuary waters of Punta del Moral beach makes it attractive to both foreign and Spanish tourists. Located at the mouth of the estuary and close to the salt-marshes of the Isla Cristina Natural Park, it is the perfect place to relax. The excellent facilities and high standards of cleanliness at the beach have been awarded a regular Blue Flag by the European Union. There is parking available nearby.
