Overlooked by the Alcazaba, this is Almeria's hottest hotel. The square where it is located was formerly called Plaza Vieja, the hence hotel's name.
The 10 minimalist rooms have oak parquet floors, huge flat screen TVs, high-tech bathrooms with rainshowers (not everyone will like the loo’s glass walls) and oversized retro photos covering entire walls. Furniture is the contemporary-baroque style favoured by many boutiquey hotels.
The gastrobar offers Mediterranean food – sophisticated tapas – and has an outdoor terrace, while the bar is ideal for a cocktail. Gorgeous bar in the portico, and independently-owned Arab baths and spa (Aire de Almeria, sister of Aire de Sevilla).
