Kursala Cádiz

Kursala is a small but highly regarded gallery, dedicated to contemporary photography. Since its opening in 2007, it has become a key space for showcasing innovative photographic work, with a focus on emerging artists alongside established names.

Located within the University of Cádiz’s Constitution Building (Edificio Constitución 1812), Sala La Kursala is a standout space for contemporary photography in southern Spain. Under the guidance ofcurator Jesús Micó, the gallery has become known for its unique pairing of exhibitions with photobooks — the celebrated “Cuadernos de la Kursala” series, which has earned recognition at major photography festivals including the world famous show, PhotoEspaña.

Their photo books have received national recognition, such as Best Photobook at PhotoEspaña, and many are now part of the permanent collection at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid.

La Kursala is a must-visit for travelers seeking cutting-edge visual art in Cádiz. It offers an immersive look into the power of photography to reflect, challenge, and inspire.
