Bodegas Garvey

Situated on the edge of the city, with its vineyards stretching for miles behind the bodega, this company was founded by William Garvey. An Irish aristocratic farmer from County Waterford, legend has it that he came to Cadiz in search of sheep, but ended up shipping wine back to the UK. His son developed the business into the Bodega de San Patricio, the city's largest for over 125 years. He was the first to export both sherry and brandy from Jerez. Famous Garvey brands include San Patricio (St Patrick) sherry and Esplendido brandy.

An extra attraction on this tour is the collection of over 15,000 wine and sherry labels from all of Jerez's bodegas, printed between 1854 and 1954. You can also see hand-painted bottles from the 19th century. The tasting takes place in the Sacristia cellar, and you can also do a full-day wine-tasting course with lunch.
