The Atarazanas are Seville’s medieval Royal Shipyards in the Arenal district, formerly the port area. They are located about halfway between the Alcazar palace and the river, on the corner of calle Temprano and calle Dos de Mayo. The shipyards are currently closed to the public (January 2025), although long-standing plans for a cultural centre are predicted to be finished soon.

This small, semi-circular "square" is located between Avenida de la Constitución and calle Arfe in the Arenal district. Its main entrance, easily missed, is opposite the cathedral's western side.

Tucked in between Avenida de la Constitucion and the river, El Arenal was home to the city's port, from where ships sailed to the New World - hence its name, from arena (sand), on the then-tidal river banks. These days, it's a well-heeled barrio with abacerias (shops selling conservas, tins and jars of food, and cheese), freidurias (fried fish takeways) and, as well as some good bars and restaurants.

The Hospital de la Santa Caridad (Holy Charity Hospital)  is a 15th century baroque charity hospital, home to the Hermandad de la Santa Caridad (Brotherhood of Holy Charity). Located at the southern end of the Atarazanas (Royal Shipyards) in the Arenal neighbourhood, it has some superb artworks by Golden Age painters such as Murillo, Zurbaran and Valdes Leal.
