Huércal de Almería

Anunciación church of Las Tres Villas

Construction of the church began at the end of the eighteenth century, according to the plan drawn up by the architect Santiago Ferro, although only the main chapel and the transept were built from it, as the nave was never built.

Iglesia de la Virgen de la Salud

In the centre of the village is the parish church. It was built in the eighteenth century, in the Neoclassical style, and features a barrel vault and high bell tower. Located on Calle Porche in Plaza de la Juventud.

Ermita de las Animas

Ermita de Las Animas is a tiny chapel located on the Calle Alta to the west of Ocaña.

Iglesia de la Inmaculada

Eighteenth-century parish church in the Neoclassical style. It is unusual in that the roof is covered with thin slate rather than terracotta roof tiles. Its interior is very sober and the arches that support the vault stand out.

Fuente de Zamora

The spring is located outside the village in an area known as Piedras Blancas, in the same location that a Paleolithic horse engraving was discovered.

Grabados Rupestres de Piedras Blancas

Rock engraving on the southern slope of the Sierra de los Filabres, at an altitude of 1,400m. It is the representation of a complete figure of a horse, in absolute profile and with a slightly ascending position, from back to front. Its conventions place us in the middle of the Upper Paleolithic era, corresponding to the Solutrean stage.

Castillo de Macias El Enamorado

The castle is famous not as the site of military exploits, but because Macías ‘el Enamorado’ was imprisoned and murdered here. His love affairs inspired works by Lope de Vega y Larra.

Torre del Homenaje

The oldest element of the Castillo de Macías ‘el Enamorado’. A work from the thirteenth century, made of ashlar with uniform chains, small dimensions and a proportionate structure, it sits on a rock plinth with a square base. Located on Calle del Castillo.

Iglesia de la Encarnación

The church was designed according to the Gothic lexicography of the early sixteenth century. Its plan consists of three naves, separated by cruciform pillars, covered with a Mudejar roof that, in the eighteenth century, was camouflaged with false ribbed vaults.

Ermita de Jesús

The seventeenth-century chapel retains the barrel vault and lunettes of its original construction. The dressing room of Jesús, and the interesting façade, that draws attention for the monochrome simplicity of the brick, the ascending verticality of lines, and the articulation of spaces, date to the eighteenth century.

Casa del Juzgado

Also known as “Ayuntamiento Viejo”, this building has been completely renovated. Of its original construction, only a seventeenth-century portal, narrow and divided into three sections, remains.

Colecciones Museísticas

The Arjonilla Museum Collections are based in what was the Palacio del Marqués de la Merced, which was built in the late seventeenth century. The building is currently the focus of a project that began in 2014, having been inaugurated on August 13, 2018.

Iglesia de Santa María

The church dates from the beginning of the sixteenth century and was erected as a parish on February 11, 1619. It brings together the fundamental characteristics of Mudejar construction, such as crushed brick, stone arches and wooden roofs.

Palacio Boleas

This eighteenth-century Baroque palace is located near the river. It has a stone façade and grand doors bearing a shield and royal crown, framed by a stone semicircle.

Ermita de Nuestra Señora del Carmen

This small hermitage has very simple architectural lines, and presents a white façade with a large access door, finished in a semi-circular arch, and crowned by a simple belfry. Loacted on Camino Ermita.

Ayuntamiento (Cortijo de las Mascaranas)

This building once belonged to Hermann Fischer, son of Hermann Federico Fischer, owner of the Ficsher House or Cortijo del Gobernador in the city of Almería. Since 2010, it has been the headquarters of the Huércal de Almería Town Hall.

Centro de Interpretación Etnográfico

The cultural centre is situated on the ground floor of Centro Cultural Cortijo Moreno, with a museography that has been carried out by Rodolfo Caparrós, focusing on three main areas; the first analyses the historical circumstances that produced the urban bourgeoisie in Almería.

Paraje Merendero Los Pinos

The Los Pinos picnic area is equipped with ready-built barbecues and stone chairs and tables in strategic areas for families and friends to get together, along with a paved area for football and basketball. The park also has a pond where various species such as ducks, geese and swans live.

Torre de Cárdenas

This is an important military structure bordering the outskirts of the city. It is a type of coastal tower building, cylindrical in shape, which was built in the sixteenth century. At present, it is in a good state of conservation, after a restoration carried out in recent years. Located on the N-340a.
