Hotel Pez Espada

Pez Espada Hotel is located on the seafront in Montemar, Torremolinos, the hotel offers secluded gardens, swimming pools and large shaded terraces. Guests have a private entrance that leads directly to the beach. The former fishing village of La Carihuela is just a few minutes stroll along the promenade. Here one will find a maze of artisan shops, tapas bars and excellent fish and seafood restaurants.

Torre Pimentel, Torremolinos

This tower, the symbol of the town which it gave its name its name is also known as Torre Pimentel. It is a watchtower located at the top steep hill in the present village, built on solid rock. Its purpose was to protect the entire industrial and agricultural complex of Torremolinos. It was probably built just after the reconquest.

Famous faces of Torremolinos

Torremolinos is embellished with artistes from all occupations, and some of the most celebrated of them, as well as the eccentric and the notorious, have lived, or stayed, in the town at some point during their lives. The famous faces of Torremolinos are closely related to Torremolinos History.

The Palladium Club

One of the town's oldest clubs, which has been renamed and revamped several times since it first opened in the '80s, is The Palladium Club. This huge night club has two dance floors, a VIP area, several resident DJs playing techno house, and the best party atmosphere on offer in the area.

Baccus Rock Bar

The Baccus Rock Bar in Calle de las Mercedes is a music bar that presents live bands at the weekends. The huge sound system pumps out classic rock music and they offer an exciting mix of live music and themed party nights. The bar has wonderful views of the Mediterranean and is popular with the middle aged Spanish crowd, although they are most welcoming to tourists and expat locals who enjoy a night of foot-stomping progressive rock.

New Tinas Bar

New Tina's Bar opened during the tourist boom of the 1960s (formerly known as Sheila's Bar) and this small bar, still in the original building is popular with tourists. Offering all the usual bottled and draught beers, cocktails, alcopops and shots, Tina's attracts a younger crowd and is particularly busy over the weekends.

Branigans Irish Pub

There are several bars situated in the centre of the town that offer live music and karaoke and one of these is Branigans Irish Pub in Avenida Palma de Mallorca (behind Matahambre). This spacious bar offers all the sporting events on several large screens and they also offer music videos, pool tables.

Peggy Sue's

The lovers of rock and roll should visit Peggy Sue's, which, as the name might suggest, is a small shrine to the swinging 60s. This American themed music bar is adorned with all the trimmings of the rock and roll era, including walls lied with nostalgic pictures of some of the greatest stars of the genre.

Styles Music Bar

Styles Music Bar has friendly staff and a good-old-fashioned entertainment bar style ambience. They also have a large outside terrace to enjoy drinks before the show. The bar opens seven nights a week from 9pm, and following the live entertainment, customers are invited to take the stage and sing on the karaoke until three in the morning.

Garfields Rock Cafe

This well-known bar is somewhat small, although it has a large terrace that is popular with locals and tourists at weekends. Famed for playing progressive rock music, this popular bar hosts karaoke nights and occasional live groups outside on the terrace. The bar serves an extensive range of lagers and ciders and they also have an impressive cocktail list.

Mama J's Show Bar

The club presents a high quality live show with burlesque artists, acrobats, singers, dancers, and showgirls.  The club is open between 8pm and 2am and prices vary depending on whether one opts for the dinner and show, at around 35 euros, or the show without dinner, which costs 20 euros.

Chamber of Secrets

Torremolinos boasts the only magic-show cabaret bar in the area and this is one of the most popular choices for tourists in search of a good night's entertainment. The Chamber of Secrets is an established cabaret show-bar ran by some of Europe's top performers and the 33 euro entrance fee includes all-inclusive lager, sangria and soft drinks. Children under 14 pay 18 euros.

Flamenco

Unfortunately, Torremolinos no longer has a thriving flamenco scene and just about all the town's flamenco tablaos have disappeared, with the exception of one. Pepe Lopez has been entertaining tourists with regular flamenco shows since the early 1970s and it was once one of the most celebrated clubs in Andalucía.

La Chacha

La Chacha is another of the town's longest serving establishments. Originally little more than a shack that first opened in 1956, La Chacha is one of the town's busiest seafood houses. It offers the biggest selection of quality seafood in the centre of town, although it is also one of the most expensive.

GLBT Events and festivals

The first big GLBT event of the year in Torremolinos is the Gala Drag Queen del Carnival Gay, which is held on the first weekend in March. This colorful drag queen gala, organized by the ACOGAT, gay merchants association of Torremolinos, contains all of the sequined outrageousness associated with the world of drag.

La Nogalera district gay bars

Most of the gay bars in Torremolinos are situated in La Nogalera. This area is the town's 'gay village' and has many night bars and clubs that stay open until dawn. There are also bars and cafes that open all day, serving breakfasts, snacks and meals.

Playamar and Bajondillo Beach district gay Bars

Poseidon. This long-established bar is a favorite lunchtime haunt that serves an adequate menu of the day, as well as tapas, snacks and drinks, and their beach terrace is perfect for enjoying an afternoon cocktail or two.

Gay Scene

Torremolinos has long had a vibrant gay scene and it has always been one of the most openly gay-friendly towns in Spain. Even during the years of dictatorship, the town flourished as a destination for the liberally minded and the animated gay scene thrived at a time when Franco frowned on blatantly non-Catholic activities.

El Albanico

El Abanico, another of the town's popular coffee houses. This typical Spanish café offers a wide range of breakfast snacks, sticky cakes and sweet delicacies, as well as fresh, aromatic coffees and natural juices.
