El Higueron District of Fuengirola

The Higuerón district lies inland from Fuengirola, on the hillside west of Avenida del Higuerón, which runs up to the A-7 motorway. East of Avenida de Higueron is part of Benalmadena. El Higueron is one of the newer neighbourhoods, largely opened up for development since 2013. It slopes down to the Arroyo de Zaragosa. It offers commanding views over the Mediterranean. It is renowned for its luxury hotels, golf courses and upmarket properties.

Facilities include The Higuerón Hotel, a 5-star hotel with a variety of amenities including a spa, fitness centre and several restaurants. El Higuerón Golf Club: This 18-hole golf course is one of the most prestigious in the area.

The Higuerón district is a popular destination for tourists and expats. It is a relatively quiet and peaceful area compared to other parts of Fuengirola. The cost of living in the Higuerón area is higher than in other parts of Fuengirola.

El Higueron translates into English as the large fig tree.
