Hotel Jerez Centro ( Formerly Tryp Jerez)

This four-star hotel occupies an impressive classical building set in grounds of palm and orange trees. It looks out onto a large, leafy plaza near the city centre, and is located within walking distance of some bodegas as well as the Royal Equestrian School, with bars, shops and restaurants also nearby.

Modern hotel with garden, pools and business facilities, located 15 minutes' walk from the city centre. This four-star hotel with its modernistic glass facade has a classic-contemporary interior with wood floor and leather sofas in the lobby. The hotel is well located, close to the main monuments such as the cathedral, equestrian school, bullring and the Sandeman sherry bodega.

Balcon de Cordoba

This four-star hotel in a traditional 17th-century Cordoban house, one street away from the Mezquita, is classic-contemporary in style. Its 10 rooms and suites, over two floors, are tastefully decorated in soothing, muted tones of cream and beige, with marble columns and comfortable beds. Located on a pedestrian street, it is just 300 metres from the Plaza Bib-Rambla next to Granada cathedral, with its famous terrace restaurants.

Barcelo Carmen Granada (formerly Sercotal Carmen)

This four-star hotel is positioned on one of Granada’s main boulevards, close to the shops and cathedral. The 222 guest rooms have clean, unfussy, modern décor in muted tones accented by lamps, throws and cushions in bright reds and blues. The junior suites have their own private terraces. B&B HOTEL Granada Estación (formerly H2 Granada)

This four-star hotel is located next to Granada bus station, which is handy if you’re arriving or leaving by bus and don’t want to have to travel far to start your journey; it is also close to the airport and A44 motorway. On the downside, it’s a 20-minute walk into the centre (or you can always hop on another bus).

This small hotel is in an attractive restored 1850s mansion, right on Almeria’s cathedral square, located in the centre of the historic quarter. The neomudejar mansion has kept many of its original features, with high ceilings, sweeping staircases and chandeliers.

Aire Hotel & Ancient Baths

Overlooked by the Alcazaba, this is Almeria's hottest hotel. The square where it is located was formerly called Plaza Vieja, the hence hotel's name. The 10 minimalist rooms have oak parquet floors, huge flat screen TVs, high-tech bathrooms with rainshowers (not everyone will like the loo’s glass walls) and oversized retro photos covering entire walls.

Hotel Salles Malaga Centro

This seven-storey hotel offers two styles of rooms, to cater for all tastes: traditional, which have warm colours – oranges and purples, and pine furniture; and modern, which are bold monochrome, with strong, graphic print fabrics, and furniture in either black or white, accented by splashes of red. Some of the 147 rooms have balconies, and some have views towards the mountains inland from the city.

AC Malaga Palacio Hotel by Marriot

This hotel, part of the AC group, is located on Calle Larios, the central shopping street of the city, in a sleek 1960s corner building. It has 214 rooms, decorated in a warm, contemporary style with wood Book now! and neutral tones; some rooms have balconies; higher rooms are quieter, as they’re further from the busy, sometimes noisy street – you are right in the centre of the city. The minibar has free water, soft drinks and beer.
