Marina Golf Mojácar

Opened in 2000 and designed by Ramón Espinosa, this course is located in a stunning position beside the Mediterranean. It is not overly long, but the garden-like setting with its multitude of trees and shrubs is incomparable, making it a joy to play at any time of the year. Sea views are a dominating feature all the way round the course and are especially remarkable from the 4th tee. Additionally there are four pitch-and-putt holes and an ample practice area with 25 tees, of which nine are under cover.

Cortijo Grande Golf Course

Cortijo Grande Golf Course is a 9-hole inland course in Almería. This is one course that will satisfy those looking to golf in a truly majestic setting, among rolling hills and not too far from the sea. Almería is known for being one of the lesser developed corners of Andalucia and this golf development represents the best of that reputation.

Almerimar Golf

Golfers visiting Almerimar can look forward to a course of wide fairways, with a profusion of trees and plants which afford plenty of shade and, at the same time, serve as natural hazards, protecting the fast greens. The course was designed during the period that Gary Player had just embarked on a second career in golf course architecture and was working in association with the experienced Ron Kirby.

Aguilón Golf Course

The verdant colour of the fairways and greens contrasts spectacularly with the backdrop of the hillsides of the Sierra Aguilón at this well designed course that integrates perfectly into its natural environment. With more than 100 bunkers, six large lakes and numerous natural gullies to negotiate, playing a round here is an unforgettable experience. It is a very attractive course with wonderful views over the Mediterranean, and although the general layout is a comfortable one, players of all levels will find their game challenged in different ways.

Jaen City - Fascenating Fact 1

Jaen´s name comes from the Moorish word geen or jayyan, meaning stopping post on a caravan route. King Ferdinand III captured the city from Ibn-Nasr, who subsequently founded the Nasrid kingdom of Granada in 1246, and Jaen had a strategic position on the frontline between Christian Spain and Moorish Granada. It was used as the gateway for the armies in the Reconquest, and Ferdinand and Isabella launched their final assault on Boabdil´s Granada from here in 1492.

Golfer - Miguel Angel Jimenez Golf Academy

Fifth of seven brothers, Miguel Ángel left school at 15 and worked in a garage and then at Torrequebrada Golf Club collecting golf balls on the driving range and as a caddie. After watching his idol Seve Ballesteros in the Spanish Open at Torrequebrada in 1979, Miguel Ángel was inspired to take up the game himself, turning professional in 1982.

With 23 Tour victories by the end of 2015 Miguel Ángel holds the record as the Oldest Winner on the European Tour at 50 years and 133 days when he won the Open de Espana in May 2014.

Los Cuchillos Walk

This shortish circular route takes you round the rocky massif that lies just to the north of the Refugio de Juanar with an optional 45 minute diversion to the top of the jagged ridge of Los Cuchillos, El Picacho de Castillejos (1238m). Even though I’ve graded the walk as Easy/Medium don’t imagine that this is in any way a dull route.

Festivals - November guide

In Alpujarra de la Sierra, a village in Granada province, the Chestnut Festival is a harvest tradition that was almost lost until villagers decided to get back on track in 1986. Since then they’ve been roasting chestnuts, dancing and singing faithfully every year. You’re welcome to join them! Also in Alcaucin, Malaga Celebrating, and living thanks for, the chestnut harvest. According to local legend, the oldest trees (castaños) are in the Mecina Bomaron, and date from Moorish times.
