TIE Residence Cards

The Royal Decree 240/2007 requires that everybody planning to reside in Spain for more than six months should obtain a Residence Certificate or Card at the local Oficina de Extranjeros.  The TIE card is issued to Non-EU foreigners legally resident in Spain, hence it is a useful document to have to prove your status.

Vehicle Tax

Every year you must pay a municipally imposed vehicle tax at your local town Hall. This tax "impuesto municipal sobre vehiculos de traccion mecanica" varies from municipality to municipality. As a general rule it is cheaper in rural areas, which sometimes leads Andalusian businesses with fleets of company vehicles to use a rural address for the official headquarters of their business.

Drink Driving

Spain has taken longer than most other European countries to introduce a drink drive law, but it is now in place, so imbibers beware! Couple these rules with the fact that many Andalusian roads require your undivided attention, and you can be sure that drink driving is no joke in these parts.

Guadalmina - Restaurants

Guadalmina is a beachside community that stradles the A7/N340 coast road, dividing it into Guadalmina Alta and Guadalmina Baja. Its west boundary runs along the Guadalmina River which is also the Marbella / Estepona boundary. Guadalmina is a mature urbanisation mostly developed in the 1980s.

Restaurants in Mijas Costa

There are a number of restaurants situated in La Cala de Mijas or Mijas Costa, giving spectacular views over the med from the dining table. Expect good, fresh fish and seafood, as well as delicious tapas dishes whilst sitting on a terrace enjoying the fresh, sea breeze.

Benalmádena Costa is one of the most cosmopolitan areas on the coast and famed for an abundance of British bars and restaurants. The heart of the resort is the extensively equipped Puerto Marina and here one will find dozens of restaurants and bars serving food from all corners of the world.

Old Town Walk

Park the car in the underground car park under the seafront promenade and walk through to the pedestrianised Calle Real. Where this road crosses Calle Terraza is a good starting point. Have a look at the shops on Calle Terraza and pedestrianised Calle Real, and stop in at one of the traditional bars on Calle Caridad for an ice-cold fino (sherry) and tapa. Walk up to the attractive Plaza de las Flores.

Plaza de las Flores

Plaza de las Flores has had a number of names over the years, beginning as Plaza Real, it became in turn Plaza de la Constitución, Plaza de José Antonio and finally (at least for now), Plaza de Las Flores. They were great times for the makers of street signs. Somewhere along the way it was also known briefly as Plaza de Abastos (Provisions Square), where the markets alternated with bullfights.

See & Do

The village centre has several small squares; Plaza de la Iglesia, La Plaza de las Quebradas, and Paseo de los Alcaldes. Plaza de la Iglesia (Church square) also known as Plaza del Ayuntamiento (Town Hall square) is well worth taking a walk through the town to see this quiet, pretty square (without any cafes) where you can see the church, town hall, and Fuente de Consejo public water fountain.

Hotels in Zufre

Zufre is a small village and does not have any large hotels. Casa Vesta with terrace, infinity pool, 360 views, private parking is certainly one of the leading small boutique hotels in Andalucia. It is located just on the edge of the village so it is easy to wander around.

Mermaids Reef- Arrecife de las Sirenas
