Almerimar

Almerimar is a purpose-built modern resort town situated 40km west of Almeria city. It serves as a spectacular family holiday resort, boasting 13km of beautiful, sandy beaches with crystal blue waters. The town has no shortage of services and ammenities, including restaurants, shopping centres, bars and hotels, to meet the needs of the waves of tourists that flood the area during the summer period.

Mermaids Reef- Arrecife de las Sirenas

Legend has it that sailors mistook the sound of monk seals for mermaids on this headland so they called it the Arrecife de las Sirenas (the Reef of the Mermaids). Agua Amarga Beach

Agua Amarga is a wonderfully picturesque bay where you find Agua Amarga a secluded white fishing village. The whole coast from here northwards nearly as far as Mojacar is worth exploring. Mesa Roldan is a huge rock headland where a scene in Game of Thrones was filmed.

Playa de los Muertos

Expansive isolated beach. An impressive picture postcard has an aerial photograph showing the length of this dead straight beachy cove. Park the car in the car park by the information point and first walk to the viewpoint before descending the long path down to the beach.

Roquetas de Mar Beaches

The most popular and well developed tourist resort. An international package holiday destination. Lacks nothing in facilities. If you walk westwards along the beach (take water) within half an hour of leaving the resort you will probably not be able to see another human being.

Cabo de Gata Beaches

One of Spain's main geographical headlands. Lots of rocky headlands and sandy coves. The area is protected as a Natural Park of Cabo de Gata - Nijar. The coastal road is blocked to through traffic just to the east, making for a truly tranquil experience; where the road ends you will find the stunning Mirador de las Sirenas a viewpoint looking out over the Mediterranean

San Miguel de Cabo de Gata

San Miguel de Cabo de Gata is the full name of a small fishing village located 10km to the north of the important Cape (Cabo de Gata) on the Spanish Mediterranean coast. Although there are only a few houses, a small general store and a few beach bars here, its a good place to stock up on refreshments. The hamlet is withing the municipal district of Nijar.

Funky Buddha Marbella

Funky Buddha Marbella located above the Golden Mile. 2019 opening partner club to the Funky Buddha Banus. Located on the site of the famous Art Deco Marbella night club La Notte which had closed c2000. The La Notte gardens have long gone and have been replaced with soundproofed conservatories that let Funky Buddha play the sounds loud.

Rodalquilar

Rodalquilar is a small village of about 200 inhabitants just off the Cabo de Gata coast road, AL-4200 between San José and Las Negras. It is a few kilometres inland, and it is not historic hill village but rather a mid-twentieth century mining village. It looks uninteresting from the road and is generally passed by tourists and travellers. This is a mistake. A memorial in the village poetically describes Rodalquilar.

Almeria is one of the least-known provincial capitals in Andalucia. But lately this ancient port city has been experiencing a renaissance, thanks to an urban regeneration programme which started in 2007 and is scheduled to finish in 2013.

La Isleta del Moro

La Isleta del Moro is a quaint fishing hamlet known for its picturesque setting, and well worth the 500m detour from the AL-4200 San Jose to Las Negras coast road.Population is about 200. The name comes from Isleta del Moro Arraez, possibly from a Moorish commander called Mohamed Arraez (ar-rais means boat owner). Straddling a narrow peninsula, between two small hills, the hamlet offers a very photogenic coastal scene.

Los Escullos

If Bond movies, quirky bars, fossils and remote Mediterranean beaches appeal to you, take a trip to Los Escullos. Los Escullos is a small cluster of houses overlooking the jagged Almeria coastline, a few km north of San Jose. Sitting under the extinct volcano Cerro del Fraile (at 493m, El Fraile peak is the highest of the Sierra del Cabo de Gata), it has a certain charm.

Aguadulce is one of the most important touristic hubs of Almería province, located only 8km from Almería city. The town experiences a huge influx of tourists during the summer season and, as a result, has a number of hotels, hostals and self-catering options to accommodate this wave of people.
