Museo de Jamón

The 'jamón' (Iberican ham) museum was created as an Interpretation Centre for the Iberican Pig, providing information about the mountain culture of the Sierra passed down from parents to children.

Gay Scene

Torremolinos has long had a vibrant gay scene and it has always been one of the most openly gay-friendly towns in Spain. Even during the years of dictatorship, the town flourished as a destination for the liberally minded and the animated gay scene thrived at a time when Franco frowned on blatantly non-Catholic activities.

Cabildo Viejo

Cabildo Viejo is a fifteenth century building that has been used as a granary, town hall, prison and municipal government offices. The main entrance was made by Hernán Ruiz II in 1563, according to inscription. In addition to the date is the phrase "Verita de Terra Orta Est Justitia De Coela Prospexit".

GLBT Events and festivals

The first big GLBT event of the year in Torremolinos is the Gala Drag Queen del Carnival Gay, which is held on the first weekend in March. This colorful drag queen gala, organized by the ACOGAT, gay merchants association of Torremolinos, contains all of the sequined outrageousness associated with the world of drag.

Casa Lopez

Casa Lopez, on the opposite side of the street, has been providing good old fashioned home cooking since 1996. It is another of the hidden treasures of Torremolinos, just far enough away from the main drag to be practically ignored by the tourists.

Plaza Alta

The Plaza Alta is a square that was originally built as the centre of Aracena around the fifteenth century. With time and as the population of the village grew, the village expanded and the square no longer served as the centre.

Golf Resorts

As golf courses multiply across sunny, southern Spain, so do the services they provide to golfers and the family, friends and business they bring from across Europe and around the world. Golf resorts are the latest with an offering so complete you won’t need to leave their premises.

Property Sales

There are nearly sixty golf courses in Andalucía, of which thirty are on the Costa del Sol. The fine weather allows golf to be popular all year round. It is a well-known fact that the property market is booming in Andalucía, in particular on the Costa del Sol - or Costa del Golf, as it is increasingly known.

Festivals in Santa Fe de Mondújar

Festivals in Santa Fe de Mondújar: Cabalgata Reyes Magos, Día de Andalucía, Jueves Lardero, Semana Santa, Día de San Marcos and Fiestas Patronales en Honor a la Virgen del Rosario.

History of Andújar

The oldest remains found in the area date from the Paleolithic era, belonging to the Acheliense Culture, but it was during the Neolithic period and in the first part of the Bronze Age that the population of the area began to develop more seriously, supported by the development of agriculture in its fertile lands and mining in the Sierra Morena.

Rowing and Canoeing

By its very nature, rowing is an inland waterway sport and is immensely popular along the River Guadalquivir, especially in Córdoba and Sevilla, where major international competitions and training camps are often held. It is mainly practised on straight, wide, flat (calm, smooth) stretches of water, hence the popularity of the Guadalquivir.

Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding is said to be the fastest growing water sport in the world. Practiced on lakes or the sea, it's like a combination of snowboarding, waterskiing and skateboarding or a cross between mono skiing and surfing. Although it may contain an essence of all these activities, wakeboarding is most definitely a water sport in its own right.

Waterskiing

Waterskiing is a water-sport that suits all ages. Some other sports, such as wakeboarding and surfing, can sometimes seem a little intimidating to the uninitiated, whereas waterskiing has many facets and can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Little Africa Animal Reserve (Reserva Animal La Pequeña Africa) is a zoo located in the neighbourhood of Los Ángeles, next to the village of Jimena de la Frontera. It was created to help conserve part of the region’s (and even the country’s) natural heritage.

Boating & Yachting

For a country whose border is largely shored up by water, Spain is a relative latecomer to the sport of boating. Particularly in Andalucía, the sea was, to a great extent, the province of working fishermen. The feudal economy which marks Spain's largest autonomous region has a history of land-locked pursuits, such as hunting and horse riding.

Bowls

There are only a few quality lawn bowling clubs in Andalucia. Lawn bowling is a popular sport amongst the international community on the Costa del Sol where most of the clubs are situated.
