La Joya

La Joya is an old mining settlement named after the Arroyo de la Joya, some 70km north of Huelva, close to the Atlantic and the Portuguese border in the Comarca (area) of El Andavalo, west of the Sierra de Aracena.

Líjar

Líjar is stepped in history, from its old town, which is completely untouched by modern architecture, to the ancient petroglyphs that have been discovered in the area, including the Stone of Herradura. The town is made up of many small urbanizations, such as the residential area of Huertecita Alta, which collectively house around 390 inhabitants.

Caves of Nerja Hotels

The caves of Nerja also attract a large number of tourists. Nerja is situated at the eastern tip of the Costa Del Sol, 50km away from Málaga. It is a picturesque fishing town which has done very well in avoiding the construction of concrete high-rise buildings which crowd some of the other coastal resorts in this area of Spain.

Candado Golf Course is a challenge for all standards of golfer. Short, 9-hole course five kilometres east of Málaga. Undulating course with small greens overlooking the sea and surrounding countryside.

Canjáyar

Canjáyar is found at the foot of Sierra Nevada, overlooking the Sierra de Gádor. Surrounded by orchards, which are served by a system of hundred-year-old aqueducts, it is a great place to enjoy rural tourism. It has about 1,200 inhabitants. The exact origins of Canjáyar are unknown, however, some remains dating to the Copper Age have been studied.

Situated in the mountainous regions of Southern Spain, it survived and even prospered for over two and a half centuries and was then overwhelmed in less than a decade.

History

Like many other towns in Granada, Albuñán began to grow as an urban centre following the expulsion of the Moors in the sixteenth century.

Higuera de la Sierra

Higuera de la Sierra is a village in the north-east of Huelva province within the Parque Natural de la Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche. It has a famous Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos (Three Kings Procession), when all the inhabitants play out Bible scenes, the only one of its kind in Spain, and also one of the oldest at nearly 100 years old.The village has approximately 1400 inhabitants.

Antiques

Slabs of oak doors, antique brass hardware, traditional Castilian sideboards and those wonderful dark wood chairs, upholstered in leather with brass studs. Spanish antiques are distinctive and decorative and can still be found at relatively inexpensive prices, although you have to be prepared to spend time searching for those real bargain basement pieces.

Valderrama bares its teeth as the European Tour returns to Spain

Real Club Valderrama maintained its reputation as one of the toughest stops on the European Tour as just five players broke par during the first round of the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters. Four competitors share the lead on two under par as the field battled windy conditions in Sotogrande at the notoriously tricky 1997 Ryder Cup venue.

Los Remedios, district of Seville city

Los Remedios is an area of wide, straight avenues (strangely for Seville, with its narrow, windy streets) and large blocks of modern flats inhabited by the smarter end of society - this is the city's only purpose-built residential district.

Pulpí

Pulpí is home to the Giant Geode of Pulpí, a beautiful volcanically formed cavern covered in transparent gypsum crystals, considered the best preserved in the world. It is therefore no surprise that is has been officially declared a Natural Place of Interest. It was discovered on the inside of an abandoned mine in El Pilar de Jaravia.

Santa Bárbara de Casa

Santa Bárbara de Casa is situated very north of El Andevalo and has a large surface area covering 144km². It has 1093 inhabitants. From the dolmens of "La Zarcita" and its history there is very little data about the history. It is however known that the inhabitants of Santa Bárbara de Casa were fearless and decided to inhabit the once border to Portugal, which lacked security.

Dehesas de Guadix

As the name indicates, this town was grassland for horse and cattle destined for the Spanish market during the 16th and 17th centuries.

Real Club Pineda Golf

A private golf club, where visitors can play if accompanied by a member. The original 9-hole course, dating back to 1939, was extended to 18 holes and opened in 1992. Sloping gradually towards the Guadiara River, it is reasonably flat and has three lakes and numerous bunkers.
