La Puebla de los Infantes

La Puebla de los Infantes is very well known within the hunting community due to it being home to one of the most important caza mayor (large game) hunting reserves in Spain, El Coto de El Aguila. It has about 3,100 inhabitants.

Aikido

Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba often referred to by his title "O Sensei" or "Great Teacher". On a purely physical level it is an art involving some throws and joint locks that are derived from Jujitsu and some throws and other techniques derived from Kenjutsu. Aikido focuses not on punching or kicking opponents, but rather on using their own energy to gain control of them or to throw them away from you.

Molinos

This one-star hotel, located in the Realejo area of Granada city, holds the Guinness World Record for being the narrowest hotel in the world (five metres). Its 18 rooms (single, double, triple and family, see below) are small but well-appointed, with chic bendy LED reading lights and 32-inch flat-screen TVs; décor features padded headboards, white furniture, with purple wall-coverings which lend it an upmarket feel.

Cartaya

Cartaya is a small town located a few km inland fromt he coast on and close to the Rio Piedras. The centre of the old town has a beautiful historical and artistic heritage. Cartaya is set in a natural rural environment with beaches, pine forests and marshland.  El Rompido is the pretty costal village and local holiday resort on the coast within the municipal district.  Cartaya has about 19, 100 inhabitants.

El Torcal -Videos

El Torcal park and the protected EL Torcal Natural Area is known for it's unusual limestone rock formations. Located about 30 km north of Málaga city in the direction of Antequera near the village of Villanueva de la Concepción. Here are a selection of interesting Videos about El Torcal.

Castilleja del Campo

The roots of Castilleja del Campo, as shown by the tombs, mosaics and clay work found in the area, stem from the Roman era. This town was also a key defensive point during the Christian raids in the Muslim period.

Via Verde of the Guadalimar River

The Guadalimar greenway is 20 kilometres long and runs between Linares-Baeza station and the old Begíjar station. The route is made up of farm tracks, natural footpaths and part of the old railway line. The greenway is accessible on foot, by horse or by bike.

Elegant hotel and spa in converted winery with magnificent function room just outside the centre. Housed in the restored wine cellars of Williams & Humbert, an impressive red-and-white building with magnificent stone entrance doorway, is located outside the city centre. Museo de Jamón

The 'jamón' (Iberican ham) museum was created as an Interpretation Centre for the Iberican Pig, providing information about the mountain culture of the Sierra passed down from parents to children.

Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores

The Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores (Parish Church of Our Lady of Sorrows) dates to 1785 and was built to plans drawn up by Spanish architect, Ventura Rodríguez (1717-1785), among others.

Santiponce

Santiponce is home to the Roman ruins of Itálica, which are probably the best-known features of the area. The town is also part of two important routes: the Ruta de la Plata and the Ruta Bética Romana. It has about 8,400 inhabitants.

Torre del Reloj

According to local tradition, the clock tower is located where the minaret of the Arab mosque that existed in this square once stood. Built in brick and stone, it was completed in 1534. It features a fabulous imperial coat of arms, which shows the lineage of the Trastamara and the Habsburgs on the right-hand side.

Spanish cities are known for their noise levels. In fact, Spain is recognised as one of the “noisiest countries in Europe”. This, however, is set to change as concepts such as noise pollution (“contaminación acústica”) are making their way into society.

Getting there

To visit Gaucin from the Costa del Sol, turn inland at Sabinillas (A7 km145), go up the A377 and drive past Manilva and the AP7 motorway toll exit and the turning for Casares. The road skirts Sierra Crestelina and then drops steeply down to cross the River Genal before the long windy climb up to the village.

Ermita de la Virgen de las Nieves

The Ermita de la Virgen de las Nieves (Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows) was built in 1796 and, for most of the year, is home to the patron saint, Virgen de las Nieves.
