Parks, Gardens and Plazas

Seville has some of the most beautiful city parks in Europe, the Parque de Maria Luisa and the Plaza de España, as well as numerous plazas and open spaces where you can happily people watch for hours. For a leisurely stroll, it's hard to beat the Paseo de Colon on the banks of the Guadalquivir river which stretches from the bridge leading to the characterful area of Triana to the magnificent Toro de Oro.

Utrera Natural Reserve

Utrera Natural Reserve contains three saltwater lakes. Laguna de Zarracatín is around ten times the size of the other two, Laguna Arjona and Laguna Alcaparrosa. The lakes and their protected environs cover 1,161ha. Like the Lebrija-Las Cabezas Natural Reserve, it provides an alternative habitat for birds in the nearby Guadalquivir delta. Birds from the Embalse Torre del Aguila, which is about 3km east, also use the reserve.

Torreblascopedro

Torreblascopedro’s Campillo del Río district produces more asparagus than any other area in the entire province of Jaén. The municipality also boasts a proud olive-growing tradition. It has about 2,400 inhabitants.

Virgen del Carmen in La Cala de Mijas

The Virgen del Carmen will be carried on the shoulders of the strong men of the parish in the direction of the beach. The procession will depart the church at 20:45 hours after the 20:00 mass at the parish church of Santa Teresa de Jesús.

Ronda - Henderson's Railway

In the 1890's, Gibraltar's garrison officers wanted to enjoy the campo so a railway was built between Algeciras, Ronda and beyond. Nowadays the train journey makes a lovely day trip through stunning scenery and historic sites, with suitable watering holes en route.

Laguna de Medina Natural Park

This is the most important reserve of the lagunas (lagoons) close to the Bahía de Cádiz. Like the other lakes in the area (the Complejo Endorreico de Chiclana, Complejo Endorreico de Espera, Complejo Endorreico de Puerto Real, Complejo Endorreico de El Puerto de Santa María and Las Lagunas de Las Canteras y El Tejón), the freshwater Laguna de Medina is an important site for overwintering waterfowl and as a breeding ground for birds such as the white-headed duck and purple gallinule.

Attracting holidaymakers from all over the world, the Costa del Sol has become one of Europe´s top holiday destinations, and offers visitors some shows, live entertainment and cabaret acts. Sierra Maria-Los Velez Natural Park

Designated a natural park in 1987, the Sierra María-Los Vélez occupies the eastern end of the Cordillera Subbética in the north of Almeria province. It covers 22,670ha, a landscape of impressive contrasts, with its arid, moon-like plains overlooked by the Sierra's rocky summits, which are white with snow in winter, and the dry, barren south-facing slopes compared to its densely wooded north-facing ones.
