Cañaveral de León

Cañaveral de León is located within the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park to the north of Aracena and only one kilometre from the Extramadura border. It has a population of about 400. The centre of Cañaveral de León boasts typical Andalusian-style houses along cobbled streets, as well as several mansions that are beautifully preserved.

Linares de la Sierra

This quaint village is located a short drive from the local main town of Aracena, and has steep, cobbled streets. The village, with a population of 300, lies at 500m above sea level, and has been declared of cultural interest by the regional government. It is a very medieval-looking village, built on the side of a steep hill, without many public spaces.

Zufre

Zufre is described as 'a white village hidden amongst the clouds and nature' and is just an hour's drive north of Seville, in the middle of the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche natural park in the province of Huelva. Its population is 1.000. Due to its geographical situation and altitude at 450m, the colder winter months see an average temperature of 10ºC and in summer the average is 25ºC.

El Rocío Village

This is a strange outpost of the Wild West, with wide, sandy streets lined with houses complete with broad verandas and wooden rails for tying up horses. It is famous for its annual Romería, the Rocío Pilgrimage at Pentecost when it is overflowing with a seething mass of a million pilgrims, either on foot or with horses and decorated carts.

People

Andalucia people, both those native to this region and those who have a relationship with southern Spain. From Roman emperors to Moorish caliphs and poets, from movie stars to models, singers, dancers and authors, the names and faces do much to tell the story of Andalucia.

Jose Amos

Jose Amos Garcia Magallanes is one of many Andalucian business people who use Andalucia.com as a platform for doing business, thereby enjoying its many benefits. He owns a car rental business based at Malaga Airport.

El Rompido

El Rompido is a fishing village out on a limb, 8km from the nearest town of Cartaya. It is one of the most tranquil and un-crowded spots on Huelva's Costa de la Luz. Up until now, it has managed to remain unscathed by the tourist development that has marred other resorts along Huelva's Costa de la Luz, perhaps because of its relative distance from the new A-49 Portugal-Seville motorway, compared with the more popular neighbouring coastal towns.

Driving Route along Cabo de Gato coastroad

Set off on a journey through one of Spain’s most unspoiled and captivating coastal landscapes—the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park in Almería. This rugged stretch of southeastern coastline is a rare gem, where volcanic cliffs, hidden coves, and shimmering turquoise waters meet desert-like plains and sleepy whitewashed village.

Playa de los Genoveses

One of the more popular coves in the natural Park. Park your car and walk the last few hundred meters. This and other coves are accessible on the dirt coastal road that leads west from the pretty village of San José (last civilisation).

Lepe

Lepe is a small agricultural market town, that until the late seventies its economy was based on fishing, but is now one of the wealthiest villages in the region thanks to its intensive farming of strawberries, which are exported all over Europe. It is also famous for being the subject of innumerable Spanish 'Irishman' jokes. It has about 27, 000 inhabitants.
