Museo Etnológico de Alhendín
The Alhendín Ethnological Museum opened its doors in Plaza de la Paz with an exhibition entitled ‘Our Customs and Traditions’. Among the objects on display are nearly 100 pieces from different eras, including an oil lamp dating from the nineteenth century. In addition, everyday items such as radios, household items, irons, coffee grinders, typewriters, magazines and textbooks, and various farming implements from bygone eras are also part of this journey through the past of the town of Alhendín.
As a curiosity, behind a glass window, you can see an underground gallery of limestone and sandstone rocks. This gallery served as a link to the cellars of the old Islamic Castle of Alhendín and was intended to serve as an escape route to the exterior of the fortress’s buttressed walls.
