Ermita de la Virgen de la Cabeza
The chapel is situated on Cerro de la Virgen de la Cabeza. To reach it, you have to climb about 500 metres. There are two chapels here. The year of construction of the older chapel is unknown, but the yearly festival became so popular with an ever-increasing number of pilgrims that a new, larger chapel was built to accommodate them.
This new chapel was built in 1992 with contributions from the faithful and devotees. It is located 3km from the town on Cerro de La Virgen de la Cabeza. From its hilltop location, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Cogollos de Guadix and its surrounding countryside, making it both a spiritual and scenic landmark of the region.
