Over the past ten years or so, out-of-town shopping centres ( centros comerciales, or CCs), whether supermarkets or fashion outlets, have become increasingly prevalent in Andalucia, located on the edge of towsn and cities or in their suburbs.

Shopping in Andalucia is  a mixture of small, often family-run, independent shops in the narrow charming streets of small towns, resorts and cities. In addition to this there are hyper-markets and shopping centres both in the city centre and out of town malls.

Shopping in Puerto Banus

Despite being fairly small in size, Puerto Banus is a haven for shop-a-holics. With everything from one of the biggest Corte Inglés department stores in Spain and plenty of highstreet names, to top-end designer luxury brand boutiques, Puerto Banus is it all.

With modern shops, restaurants and bars bordering one side of the central orange tree-lined promenade and exclusive yachts flanking the other, Muelle Uno is not your average shopping complex. The waterfront open-air mall offers a contemporary shopping and dining experience by the sea, with stunning views of La Alcazaba to remind you of the city's Moorish past.

Shopping in La Costa del Sol

Shopping on the Costa del Sol in one respect is similar to shopping in the rest of Andalucia. Plenty of small, often family-run, shops still pack out the streets of small towns and resorts, in addition to this there are more hyper-markets, shopping centres and specialist international shops.

Monday Street Market

A typical street market of over 360 stalls that sell everything from shoes and clothes, to plants and flowers, fruit and vegetables. Parking is extremely difficult nearby, so public transport or parking a little further out is recommended.

Marbella Artisan Market

For those that love spending their Sunday afternoons wandering around and browsing stalls full of antiques, handmade items and vintage jewellery, then this is the ideal market. Held in the Port of Marbella (Puerto Deportivo de Marbella), this artisan market has 30 stalls of handmade gifts and jewellery, paintings, accessories, handpainted ceramics and unique baby clothing.
