Laguna (Village), Estepona

Laguna Beach is a frontline beach complex in Estepona on the Costa del Sol. Opened in the summer of 2024 on the 13.000 m2 site of the former Laguna Village complex. It features interesting eco-friendly architecture, a wave design roof that reflects the sea and stunning interior design. Surrounded by palm trees and lush vegetation. The large swimming pool from the original Laguna Village complex has been retained. The Laguna Village and Laguna Beach brands have been dropped in favour of just 'Laguna' and Costa del Sol.

Andalucian Poets' Garden in Estepona

The Paseo de los Poetas Andaluces (Andalucian Poets' Garden) is an interesting concept. The casual passer-by walking down Calle Jesús Cautivo and glancing into the garden could be forgiven for thinking they have been transported back to the Middle Ages or a Game of Thrones set where the heads of criminals are impaled on stakes. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Rainbow Steps, Estepona

The Rainbow Steps in Estepona are a colourful yet little-known attraction, just off the Avenida del Mar. You won’t find the escalera arco iris (marked on maps as part of Arrabal las Mesas or Camino las Mesas) in the guide books or on the official town tourist website, but it is of interest to keep-fit enthusiasts and Social Media fans alike.

Roman Mausoleum in Estepona

This site is located below the Plaza del Reloj in Calle Villa. Excavations have been left open and the visitor can see the foundations of the roman building. The upper room was probably mausoleum with a funeral chapel. Inside the crypt debris has been recovered which would have been decorative element of the original building.

Beach Barbeque

In Estepona, at either end of the Playa La Rada, you can find a number of fishing boats filled with sand which are used for moragas. A moraga is a night-time barbeque party, usually held on the beach. It is traditional to Malaga province, but is also found in other parts of Andalucia. A moraga is differentiated from a barbeque in that the food being cooked is an espeto of sardines.

Casa de las Tejerinas

The Casa de las Tejerinas is a stately house in the centre of Estepona in the Plaza de los Flores. It was owned by the Tejerinas sisters and became a hospital for the poor. It was taken over by the town hall and renovated in the 1980's to become the 'Casa de la Cultura' where cultural events such as art exhibitions, courses, lectures took place.

Language schools

The pretty seaside town of Estepona, near Marbella, offers a variety of different language schools, catering for all levels from beginners to advanced. There are large schools, and some smaller privately-run schools which offer a more local and relaxed learning atmosphere.

Treasure Hunt

Andalucia.com, the most highly visited and longest established website about southern Spain, celebrated its 20th anniversary on 17th April 2016. Necropolis Prehistorica de Corominas

Inside five small dolmens (standing stones) can be viewed. They are original and date from about 3,000 BC. Also on display are a number of pottery vessels, stone tools, arrowheads, axes, personal ornaments, necklace beads made of semi-precious stones and perforated seashells. The skulls and skeletons and other bones on display are reproductions as the originals are preserved.

Sierra Bermeja mountain

The Sierra Bermeja mountain (1.449m) dominates the landscape behind Estepona. There are few places in the world where a mountain reaches this height so close to the sea (10km) You can drive to near the top in under an hour. Take the road (Carretera Genalguacil) (MA-8301)

Clinics in Estepona

There are a number of privately operated heath clinics in Estepona for patients to go without referal as an alternative to the state health service.  The state run facility is called the 'Ambulatorio' and located on Avenida Juan Carlos, it has a 24hr emergency wing as well as the daytime medical appointment facilities.  The state hospital for Estepona is Hospital Costa del Sol in Marbella.

Taxis in Estepona

Here is an informative page regarding taxis in Estepona. Estepona Taxi are white in colour with the oficial logo on the side door. They also bear the small 'SP' plate. A taxi with a green light on the roof is available for hire. It is not normal to hail a taxi on the street in Estepona. Either book one by telephone of go to a taxi rank.
