Atalaya Golf And Country Club

Pleasant, flat parkland course with many bunkers, wide fairways and elevated greens.

Set against the Sierra Bermeja (Red Mountains), the Atalaya Golf and Country Club is a well-established and prestigious golf venue on the Costa Del Sol. The club offers two very different golfing experiences; the Old Course is long and open whilst the New Course presents a shorter, and more technical layout. The club is located on Avenida del Coral, accessible from the A-7 and the AP-7 via the A-7175, on the mountainside of Atalaya-Isdabe, the easternmost district of Estepona. More>

Atalaya Golf Course

Opened to the public in 1967 and officially recognised by the Spanish Golf Federation in 1968, the Atalaya Old Course was originally developed to serve guests of the Atalaya Park Hotel, now operating as the Marbella Estepona Atalaya Park by Meliá. More> This Par-72 Old Course was designed by Bernhard von Limburger, one of Germany’s most prestigious golf course architects. von Limburger designed over 74 European courses, but the Atalaya Old Course remains his only Spanish course. The layout features broad fairways and elevated greens that require thoughtful club selection. The course is well-suited for walking and is set among mature trees, lakes, and streams that provide habitat for various water birds, including a resident pair of swans. Views of the Sierra Bermeja mountain range enhance the setting. To celebrate its designer, the club has hosted the annual von Limburger Open Championship for over 25 years. This open tournament welcomes federated golfers from around the world.

While the experts might find the challenge a little limited, the average club golfer will certainly find it quite enough to handle as the greens are sharply contoured and quick.

Without attaining the standard of some of the other courses in the region, Atalaya has enough going for it to warrant a visit - as its enduring popularity since 1968 will testify.

Facilities at Atalaya Golf And Country Club

PG Golf & Sports Academy
Established in 2020, the PG Golf and Sports Academy at Atalaya offers one of the most comprehensive practice facilities on the Costa del Sol. The TrackMan Driving Range includes 52 bays, 44 of which are equipped with the TrackMan system, along with a putting green and a chipping area with bunkers.

The academy provides a wide range of golf programs for all levels including an Elite Program. For younger players the academy has a Junior Program running through the academic year with Junior Camps aligned to Spanish and European school holidays.

In 2013, the club added a fully equipped gymnasium for members. The on-site Pro-Shop carries a wide range of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories from both international and Spanish brands as well as Atalaya branded merchandise.

Dining and Refreshments
Atalaya Golf Club offers a range of food and beverage options. A café - whose roof hosts the first tee - provides lights snacks and drinks before play.
