In Alpujarra de la Sierra, a village in Granada province, the Chestnut Festival is a harvest tradition that was almost lost until villagers decided to get back on track in 1986. Since then they’ve been roasting chestnuts, dancing and singing faithfully every year. You’re welcome to join them! Also in Alcaucin, Malaga Celebrating, and living thanks for, the chestnut harvest. According to local legend, the oldest trees (castaños) are in the Mecina Bomaron, and date from Moorish times.

Moriles

Moriles is a particularly interesting place for those keen on sampling Spain's rural wine culture. Visit in the last week of September for the Fiesta de la Cata Anual del Vino. It has around 3700 inhabitants.

Zújar

Wedged in between the impressive mountain ranges of the Sierra de Baza to the south and La Hoya de Baza and the Sierra del Pozo to the north, sits the proud and beautiful Andalusian village of Zújar. It is in the Altiplano region of the Granada Province, at a comfortable drive of approximately 110 kilometres drive from Granada City.

Primary Care Centres - Centros de Atención Primaria (CAP) in Spanish - are located throughout big cities as well as towns and villages across Andalucia. This is where you will meet your General Practitioner (GP) or Médico de Família and it is also where you will find a wide range of other services. However, the actual range of services depends on the centre, as those serving smaller villages may depend on larger centres for specialists, technologies and public health programmes.

Mantecados de Estepa

The crumbly Christmas cookies collectively known as mantecados, which you will see in the months leading up to Christmas, individually wrapped and sold either by weight, or in a box, are made in a town located in the eastern part in Seville province, Estepa.

Golf - Villa Nueva Golf Resort

This modern 6220 metre course opened in 2006 and is situated in Puerto Real, close to the city of Cadiz. It is close to the sea, and set in beautiful surroundings.

The course has very large greens and bermuda fairways all in pristine condition. The five lakes, 90 bunkers and variable tee-positions give this course plenty to test the seasoned golfer.

Facilities include a newly constructed clubhouse, a 250 metre long driving range, as well as pitching and putting greens. A luxury hotel is to be constructed in the near future.

Sierra Alhamilla

Much of the interior of Almeria province is semi-arid steppe. It is a parched, lunar landscape of low, mostly barren mountains and dried-up river beds, like a scene from the North American Wild West and it´s no surprise that this is where many spaghetti westerns were shot.
