Rágol

Found on the banks of the Andarax River, Rágol is surrounded by large eucalyptus trees and is famous for its grapes and raisins. It has about 315 inhabitants. The origins of the town are difficult to determine, although some 20 castles were established in the ninth century to colonize the Marchena area.

Felix

Felix is another village whose architecture gives away its Arabic past. The mass of white houses is presided over by an eleventh-century Arabic castle. Legend says that the castle is de la matanza (‘of slaughter’) because the Moriscos who fought against the Christian troops in 1568 threw themselves from the top, as they would rather die than convert to Christianity. The village has around 640 inhabitants.

Iglesia de la Anunciación

The Iglesia de la Anunciación was built in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, featuring a wide nave, a Baroque dome, and a three-storey tower. Inside, restored Baroque paintings were uncovered in 2005.

Pruna

Pruna is home to a monument declared to be of cultural interest, Castillo de Hiero (Iron Castle). Although little remains from the original structure, visitors can still appreciate the remains of this fifteenth century building. The town has about 2,600 inhabitants.

Fuente la Lancha

Fuente la Lancha is rich in typical eighteenth century architecture such as the Casa Partida de Juan Palomo. The town has about 345 inhabitants.

Lucena del Puerto

Lucena del Puerto is situated south of El Condado. One of the well-known locations in Huelva dedicated to agricultural, specifically strawberry and raspberry production, as seen by the surrounding fields of greenhouses. It has about 2800 inhabitants.

Galera

The village of Galera is a natural beauty spot, which is steeped in the history of many cultures going back some 4,000 years. With a population of less than 1,500, this unspoiled village in the Granada 'Altiplano' area and is one of the six villages with makes up the Huescar region within that area.
