Lucena - History

Near Lucena, Cueva del Ángel has been discovered as an important pre-Neanderthal and Neanderthal Paleolithic settlement, dating to between 400,000 and 500,000 years ago. It was probably a permanent hominid residence for more than 300,000 years.

Royal Chapel of Granada

The Royal Chapel (Capilla Real) sits inside the Cathedral of Santa María de la Encarnación. The Royal Chapel. The Catholic Monarchs founded the Royal Chapel for their own tombs. They chose to be buried in Granada because they saw its conquest as the crowning achievement of their reign. It was started in 1505 following a design by Enrique Egas and was completed in 1521. Casa Fabiola, Seville

This collection of Sevillano costumbrista paintings, sculpture, furniture and porcelain is on show in a mansion in Barrio Santa Cruz. Donated to the city by the art collector Mariano Bellver, this collection of 567 works encompasses painting, sculpture, porcelain and religious pieces.

Contemporary Art Museum

Located in an area known as Soho de Málaga, on the banks of the normally dry Guadalmedina river, is the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo. This exciting modern art museum is housed in the former wholesale market building which has a vast warehouse space of some 2,400 metres. The CAC Málaga was officially opened on 17 February 2003 by her Royal Highness Infanta Cristina and in its first decade has established itself as one of the most important contemporary art museums in Europe.

Jerez de la Frontera - Five Fascinating Facts
