Guadix and the East

Russian Art Museum

The museum houses 100 pieces dating from the 15th to 20th centuries specially selected for Málaga, as well as two temporary exhibitions each year. The works come from the Russian State Museum's collection in St Petersburg covering every period of Russian art. This is the first museum to house paintings from the museum in Russia.

History of Berja

Berja is thought to be of Iberian origin. Its Roman heritage is more assured, having been the Vergis of Roman Betica, from which period the remains of the Villavieja amphitheater stand out. The Romans left other artistic vestiges including the early Christian sarcophagus of Alcaudique (currently exhibited in the National Archaeological Museum).

Íllora is a village in Granada province once known as the Right eye of Granada, due to its importance as a defensive fortification.

El Castillo de las Guardas

El Castillo de las Guardas is situated in the north west of the Seville province and consists of 10 other hamlets within its municipal: La Alcornocosa, Archidona, Arroyo de la Plata, La Aulaga, Las Cañadillas, El Cañuelo, Las Cortecillas, El Peralejo, Peroamigo, y Valdeflores. It has about 1500 inhabitants.

Ronda - Fascinating Fact 3 - Cave art

Cueva de la Pileta is 15km south of Ronda, and is well worth seeing unless you suffer from claustrophobia or hate bats. These prehistoric cave paintings of fish, goats, horses and bulls, as well as abstract symbols, in charcoal, red and yellow, date from the late Palaeolithic period (3rd century BC).

Cóbdar

Cóbdar is situated within the Filabres mountain range, where many cave engravings and paintings have been discovered, similar to those in Chercos. It has around 140 inhabitants. The town’s name comes from the Arabic qawda, which means ‘high mountain peak’, referring to the white marble hill of La Piedra. Abundant remains from a Neolithic settlement from 3,000 BC have been found in La Cueva del Castillico.

Marbella - Puerto Banus Districts

On the beach side of the N340 coast road, between the Rio Guadaliza and the Rio Verde, are several districts of Puerto Banus. Azalea Beach is the name of the modern macro-community of a dozen or so communities that were established on this land in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It is bounded to the west by the Rio Guadaliza and to the east by Calle Ventura del Mar.
