Acequia del Cadí

The community-operated acequia (irrigation ditch) was built in the Almohad period to supply and irrigate the Campo del Príncipe area. It is situated at a higher elevation than the area served by the Acequia Gorda branch.

La Campana

La Campana is known for the Carrera de los Chamuscaos, a race that starts close to the town centre and ends in Fuentes de Andalucía, and was first used to settle the rivalry between the two towns. It has about 5,400 inhabitants.

Museo de Almeria

Also known as Almería Museo Arqueológico, the museum is housed in an award-winning contemporary building, displaying the considerable archaeological wealth of the province, from prehistoric remains discovered by the Siret Brothers at Los Millares, to Roman statues. It first opened as two rooms in the Escuela de Artes y Oficios in 1934.

Estepona Mural - Fundacion Antonia Guerrero

‘Fundacion Antonia Guerrero' (Antonia Guerrero Foundation) is by Joaquín Fabian Aguilera Diaz and was inaugurated in October 2013. It is a tribute to Antonia Guerrero and in recognition of her work to improve the education of women in Estepona. It is created in paint and relief and it depicts a girl going up the stairs of Los Remedios church. The doves which can be seen at the topic the mural represent the liberation and freedom for women.

Central Eléctrica de San Antonio

The remains of this former power station can be seen on the right bank of the Dúrcal River, along the Nico Molina hiking route. It was built by the Tuset family in 1902 and inaugurated in 1908. Several other privately owned power stations existed at that time. The nearby Molino de Juana also operated as an electrical power station until it was converted into a school farm. Both stations used water channeling systems to power their turbines via waterfalls. The building consisted of two distinct sections: the first, where electricity was generated and the turbines were located (these have now disappeared), and the second, which housed the workers.

Bioparc Fuengirola

Zoos aren't what they used to be, fortunately. You won't find miserable animals pacing up and down shoebox cages, clinging to solitary branches or paddling around in sad puddles at Bioparc Fuengirola - Fuengirola's  visitor and animal-friendly zoo.

Paraje Merendero Los Pinos

The Los Pinos picnic area is equipped with ready-built barbecues and stone chairs and tables in strategic areas for families and friends to get together, along with a paved area for football and basketball. The park also has a pond where various species such as ducks, geese and swans live.

Estepona Mural - 21st Century Don Quijote

Inaugurated in January 2016, Quijote en el Siglo xxi commemorates the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes. Painted by the malagueno artist, Curro Leyton, this mural measures 264 square metres and features a 16m high figure which is his modern interpretation of Don Quijote, one of the most famous characters from Spanish literature. It is located on a wall of the Puerta del Mar Institute on Calle Eslovaquia. Leyton created his updated vision of Quijote in collaboration with some of the students of the institute. 

Malaga city Bus service

The main bus and coach station is located just to the west of the centre of town, next to the Train Station. There are also coaches from here to Costa del Sol and Andalucia.

GLBT Events and festivals

The first big GLBT event of the year in Torremolinos is the Gala Drag Queen del Carnival Gay, which is held on the first weekend in March. This colorful drag queen gala, organized by the ACOGAT, gay merchants association of Torremolinos, contains all of the sequined outrageousness associated with the world of drag.
