Art Galleries

The two most important are the Museo de Bellas Artes and the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporaneo. One of the most prestigious of all Spain's Fine Arts Museums, the beautiful Museo de Bellas Artes is a former monastery and has a superb collection of art by Spain's most celebrated painters including Zurbarán, Murillo and Valdás Leal.

Pinsapo de las Escaleretas Natural Monument

The Spanish fir, pinsapo in Spanish (abies pinsapo), is a rare tree most commonly found in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. The pinsapo de las Escaleretas is the oldest pinsapo on record at over 350 years old. Its dimensions are impressive: it is 26m high, with a trunk measuring 5m in its circumference and branches that cover an area of 200m².

Microlighting in Andalucia

Indeed, with its excellent all-year-round climate and stunning scenery, it is surely one of the best places to go "microlighting". You can now you take to the skies the whole year round along the many beaches of both the Mediterranean and Atlantic coastlines, as well as going inland to some incredibly stunning natural inland settings.

Angosturas Gorge Guadalmina River - Benahavis

The Guadalmina River begins near Igualeja, in the Sierra Bermeja of the Serrania de Ronda and flows into the sea 28km later at Guadalmina Beach in San Pedro de Alcántara, Marbella, Malaga. The most interesting part of the river is the area near the village of Benahavis known as "Las Angosturas" or “Cañon de las Angosturas”. It is ideal for river walking or beginners’ level canyoning.

Sierra de las Nieves National Park

The Sierra de las Nieves National Park is located in the hills behind Marbella and to the east of the Ronda-Marbella road as it winds up the mountain along hairpin bends. The park centres on Mount Torrecilla (1909m) and covers an area of 30km by 20km or 18,530 hectares. The Sierra de las Nieves, formerly a natural park, was declared a National Park in January 2021 and formalised in May 2021.

Bonsai Museum

The Bonsai museum closed in December 2018. The 25 year lease on the oriental inspired building owned town hall expired in October 2017. The private collection owned by Miguel Angel Caran is seaking a new location.  The building is destined to become a municipal library.
