Fish of Andalucía

Five of Andalusia's eight provinces have stretches of coastline (Almería, Granada, Málaga on the Mediterranean; Cádiz and Huelva on the Atlantic), while a sixth, Sevilla, has a tidal river and a seaport. So, you can imagine that the cooking of the coastal regions is distinguished by a huge variety of seafood. The fish market is a great place to get acquainted with the local catch.

Places of Interest

Located in a magnificent 19th century mansion designed by the architect of the Paris Opera - Garnier. Training sessions may be watched and there is a tour of the stables. An ´Equestrian Ballet´ also takes place on Thursdays (and some other days, depending on the month).

Villages

The following villages surround the park, and all offer accommodation. They are spectacularly situated, with mountain backdrops, and are largely unspoiled due to their rural location. The villages are famous for their pure waters (there's even a holy spring), especially Tolox's balneario (spa). Monda has an impressive Moorish castle.

Adelante Andalucia

Adalante Andalucia is an Andalucia political party formed in 2020 as a coalition of IU-LV (Izquerda Unida and Los Verdes) and Podemos (until 2021) and Anticapitalistas Andalucía (since 2021) both lead by Teresa Rodríguez.

Aqualand: Bahia de Cadiz

Churchill

John Spencer-Churchill, Nephew of Sir Winston Churchill was an English painter who once lived in the Molino de Rosario, situated next to the church in Plaza San Miguel. Born in London in 1909, the budding artiste headed to Spain during his early adulthood, where, in 1934, he married a Spanish artist called Angela Culme Seymour.

Macael

Macael is famous for its marble quarries, from which 80% of all Spanish marble is extracted today. Substantial monuments such as the El Escorial Monastery, the Mezquita of Córdoba and the Alhambra in Granada have been constructed with this marble, but the material is also used for local projects, with marble statues lining the streets and squares of the town, which has around 5,400 inhabitants.

Marismas de Isla Cristina Natural Area

The marshland nature reserve of the Marismas de Isla Cristina is situated between the northern edge of Isla Cristina village and the Carreras estuary to the east and Ayamonte and the Guadiana estuary to the west. Within its 2.1 sq km is a variety of habitats and an impressive range of birds.

Italica

Roman ruins of Italica, near Seville, with remarkable mosaics and an impressive amphitheatre, are located 9 kilometres to the north of the city, just outside the village of Santiponce. Nearby you can also see a well preserved Roman theatre. Both are signposted from the the main road.

Punta Entinas-Sabinar Natural Area

Southwest of the coastal resort Roquetas del Mar is a 15km-long strip of protected coastline, the Punta Entinas-Sabinar Natural Area and Reserve. Like Albufera de Adra Natural Reserve along the coast, this is a wildlife haven encircled by a sea of plastic from the intensive agriculture that surrounds it. Even in the height of summer the beach is often deserted and its isolation makes it an ideal spot for birdwatching.
