Trambahia - Cadiz Bay Tramway

The 'Tranvía Metropolitano de la Bahía de Cadiz' (Metropolitan Tramway of the Bay of Cadiz), also known as the 'Trambahía', was inaugurated on 26 October 2022. The opening has been a long time coming, since the construction of the line was completed in 2012.

Fishing License in Andalucia

There are different types of licenses to fish from the shore (Class 1), a boat (Class 2), a group of people on boat (Class 3) or spearfishing (Class 4). In addition to possessing this license, the people who carry out this activity must respect a series of restrictions regarding the volume of catches, the minimum sizes, the seasons and the species allowed.

GR7 Footpath

The letters GR stand for "Gran Recorrido" (Long Journey). The GR7 is the footpath through Andalucia, which forms part of the European Route No. 4. The route is made up of itineraries, which are designed to avoid crossing or using tarmac roads or any roads used by traffic, wherever possible.

Human settlements in this area date back to Neanderthal times, as evidenced by the remains at Peña del Escarmiento. There are also Neolithic remains at Las Angosturas. At Cortijo Colorado, the remains of Iberian, Roman and Byzantine settlements can be seen. Moors and, later, Christians also occupied these lands.

Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Anunciación

The church was built in the sixteenth century on the site of a mosque, which survived until the General Conversion of 1500. After this, the mosque was adapted for Christian worship. It was later demolished to make way for a new, permanent church.

The Fountain of the Seven Pipes is a brick fountain located in the centre of town. Consisting of seven metal pipes and a large drinking trough, it is fed by a spring flowing about 10 metres above it and by excess water from the municipal water tank
