Retamar

Retamar is one of the coastal suburban towns of the city of Almería. Tivoli World was the largest family entertainment theme park on the Costa del Sol. It is currenly closed. It is located in the heart of Arroyo de la Miel, Benalmadena.

Islantilla

Islantilla is the small neighbouring resort to La Antilla with a wide, sandy beach and some excellent seafood restaurants. It has about 1200 inhabitants.

Cartaya

Cartaya is a small town located a few km inland fromt he coast on and close to the Rio Piedras. The centre of the old town has a beautiful historical and artistic heritage. Cartaya is set in a natural rural environment with beaches, pine forests and marshland.  El Rompido is the pretty costal village and local holiday resort on the coast within the municipal district.  Cartaya has about 19, 100 inhabitants.

Popular festivals in Calicasas are Cabalgata Reyes Magos, Carnavales, Semana Santa, Día de la Cruz, Fiestas Patronales en Honor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario and Día de la Patrona.

Famous people of Alfacar

Bertha was born in Germany in 1858 and came to Granada at the age of twelve. She had an older brother called Fernando, who became the German consul in Granada. Her participation in the Institución Libre de Enseñanza was remarkable. She also took part in the feminist struggle and managed, with little success, her father's factory, of which she was the main heir when he died.
