Balneario de Graena

Balneario de Graena

This spa is a beautiful place that has been enjoyed by Romans and Arabs alike. The area has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, as evidenced by the archaeological sites found nearby. The Romans were familiar with the hot springs, and the Muslims, who remained in the area for centuries, built the spa. In 1494, Jerónimo Münzer, a German traveller, visited the spa and wrote about it in his travel accounts. The thermal waters of Cortes y Graena received international recognition at the Paris World's Fair in 1900. The spa became municipal property on 10 October 1986. It was not easy to obtain the spa for the people of Cortes y Graena, but with the participation of the entire population, it was awarded at a public auction held on 24 July 1986. Today, the building houses a four-star hotel, spa and restaurant. It is located on Calle San Antonio in Los Baños.
