Iglesia Cristo de la Columna (Júbar)
Dating back to the third decade of the sixteenth century, the church is one of the oldest in the Alpujarra and boasts the region's oldest Mudejar-style coffered ceiling. What sets it apart from other religious monuments is the weather vane on its tower, which features both a Christian symbol (an iron cross) and a Jewish one (the Star of David). If this is the case, the church could be an old mosque, which is common in the region; however, in this instance, the original structure would have been preserved. The slightly pointed arch that frames the entrance door is made of worn exposed brick. Also noteworthy are the very old coffered ceiling and floor of clay tiles. It is located in Plaza de la Iglesia.
