Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción
The Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción (Church of the Immaculate Conception) is Zafarraya's parish church, built in 1884 after the devastating Andalucían earthquake that destroyed much of the village. It replaced an earlier church, whose surviving ruins are known as the Iglesia Vieja de Zafarraya.
The current church, rectangular in plan, has a symmetrical facade with robust exposed brick buttresses and a tall bell tower centred at the front. The Comisaría Regia, the government body established to coordinate reconstruction, funded the church and town's reconstruction and stands as a reminder of Zafarraya's reconstruction after the earthquake.
