Pilar de Zafarraya

Pilar de Zafarraya

The Pilar de Zafarraya is one of the village's most distinctive historic landmarks. It was built after the disastrous 1884 earthquake. Completed in 1886 under the guidance of the Mayor of Zafarraya, Don Agapito Moreno y Moreno, noted on the fountain's commemorative plaque, the pilar features three waterspouts and a decorative brick façade.

The fountain provided fresh water for residents and was an important meeting place where residents gathered to collect water and socialise.
