Sotogrande Music Festival 2024

Sotogrande Music (Festival) - 5th July to 9th August 2024

 

 

The third edition of the Sotogrande Music Festival summer concert series took place in the grounds of the Santa Maria Polo Club Los Pinos fields in July and August 2024. Antoñito Molina was the first singer to perform on 6th July 2024 as the Sotogrande date on his Adventure tour. Film Simfony Orchestra (FSO) Henko performed on the 13th July 2024, Loquillo performed on the 19th July 2024, Perita Fest performed on the 26th July 2024, Sergio Dalma performed on the 27th July 2024, Raule performed on the 2nd August 2024. India Martinez on 3rd August and Luis Fonso on 9th August.

It was announced after the 2023 season closed that the 2024 edition will be smaller and more exclusive. The 15.000 attendees for Manuel Carrasco in 2023 surprised the organisors and led to two hour queues on the A-7. Typical Sotogrande Music Festival attendances had been up to 3.000.

About the artists

Loquillo
José María Sanz Beltrán - Loquillo – is a Spanish rock and roll singer who is said to be too rocker for punks, and too punk for rockers. Born in Barcelona in 1960, his musical career took off when he joined up with other musicians to form the band Loquillo y Trogloditas, who made their debut in 1983. The band stayed together for 25 years, but with the departure of the last original member in 2007, Loquillo decided to dispense with the name Trogloditas.

He has since recorded several solo albums, and has even dedicated one song - Ugly, Strong and Formal -to Hollywood legend John Wayne, although his musical career was put on hold for three-months in 2010 when he was imprisoned after being found guilty of attacking a man in a bar.

Sergio Dalma
Born in Catalonia in 1964, Josep Sergi Capdevila Querol, professionally known as Sergio Dalma, is one of Spain's best-selling recording artists, having topped the national album chart nine times, including an unbroken string of five number one albums between 2008 and 2013. His debut album (Esa Chica es Mía) was released in 1989, and a pop-ballad of the same name released as a single topped the charts in Spain, Mexico, Chile, Argentina and several other Latin American countries.

He has continued to produce a string of top-selling albums (singing in Catalan, English, Italian and French), and in 2017, he released his third collection of Italian ballads and love songs, styles he has become closely associated with throughout his career.

Antoñito Molina
Born and raised in Rota, Cádiz (1989), Antonio Caballero Molina, known artistically as Antoñito Molina, is a singer who rose to stardom with his 2006 recording El tren de los sueños.  In 2010, he teamed up with the Sevillian singer, Mara, and the couple recorded three CDS, which turned them into the most popular Andalusian pop duo in Spain.   Since 2016, Antoñito Molina has concentrated on his solo career, and his popularity among the Spanish flamenco-pop fans is supported by around 250,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

Raule
An independent musician composer and singer from Jerez de la Frontera (b. 1984), Raúle (Raúl Rubiale) fuses flamenco, light rock and funk music to create his distinctive Latin pop sound. He began singing in local groups in Jerez, although it was in 2017 when, after several years writing songs and sharing them on social networks, he released his first solo album, Sin Protocol, on which he collaborated with several established Spanish musicians. During the confinement in 2020, Raule used social media platforms to launch the single, La habitación prohibida, which has so far received over five million views. Other headline songs are ‘Cómo no te voy a querer’, ‘Yo quiero una vida contigo’, ‘Cruje la cama’ and Niño salvaje’.

Marta Santos
Born in Villanueva del Río y Minas (Seville) in 1999, Marta Santos is a rising star with a passion for music. She began her musical journey in 2021 with a guitar and her mobile phone, recording herself playing songs by other artists. She shared these videos on her social networks, initially with less than 1.000 followers. Her first song Las Cosas Pequeñitas was released by Soundblaster Records on 22 April 2022. In just one year, her presence on Instagram and TikTok has exploded, with more than 390,000 followers. One of her most popular songs is 'Algo sencillito'. Marta Santos gave a late support performance at Raule's concert in Sotogrande on 2nd August 2024 in front of 4,000 people. Marta had supported Raule at the Iconica Fest in July and will also be appearing on the 'la Pepa' boat in Cadiz and at the Malaga Feria later in August.

Maria Pelae
Born in Málaga in 1990, María Peláez Sánchez is a singer and composer known professionally as María Peláe. Her music is a mix of flamenco and pop rhythms, and she is known for amusing lyrics that are often critical of society. She came third in the ninth edition of Antena 3 television talent show ‘Tu cara me suena’ and released her debut CD, Hipocondría, in 2016, thanks to a crowdfunding campaign.

The young singer has composed two songs that were finalists to represent Spain in the Eurovision; while this year, she competed in the Benidorm Fest 2024 in the Spanish selection for the competition with the song ‘Remitente’, which came sixth. In July 2023, Maria, who is openly lesbian and uses her songs to bring more attention to the LGBT+ community, released the song that would launch her career, ‘La Putukita’, which was a Spanish trend for weeks, with the video quickly reaching one million views. She is currently working on her latest album, Al Baño María.

Miguel Campello
Miguel Campello was the copmposer and singer of the group elbicho. In 2013 he embarled on a solo career and released four sucessful albums. He continues with his Chatarrera series of five studio albums that make a complete work.

Luis Fonsi
Known for his soulful, dance-oriented music, Puerto Rican singer Luis Alfonso Rodríguez López-Cepero, who uses the stage name of Luis Fonsi, was born in San Juan in 1978. He has been awarded numerous accolades for his music, including the Latin Grammy Award in the Record of the Year category with ‘Aqui Estoy Yo’, which also scooped three Billboard Latin Music Awards. He has toured with some of today’s most celebrated artistes, including Britney Spears, for who he was the opening act during her Dream Within a Dream tour.

However, it would be the release of Despacito in 2017 that would bring the singer his greatest success to date, winning four Latin Grammy Awards and seven Billboard Latin Music Awards, along with countless others. By the following year, the record had sold more than 11 million copies, and the music video received more the 8 billion views on YouTube.

Film Symphony Orchestra - Henko
The Film Symphony Orchestra (FSO) is a relatively new artistic project that was born with the purpose of filling an existing gap in the cultural and musical offering in Spain, and with the aim of bringing symphonic music closer to society through a common thread as universal as cinema. The orchestra consists of more than 70 musicians and performs concerts of the music soundtracks of blockbuster movies. Led by internationally award-winning director Constantino Martínez Orts, the FSO is currently on tour with its latest show, Henko, which offers an experience inspired by the best soundtracks of all time. The show is a tribute to bravery, to inner change and is born from the most emblematic melodies of franchises such as James Bond, Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Harry Potter among others.

Galder Varas Comedian
Born in Bilbao in 1987, although growing up in Alicante, Galder Varas is one of the top comedians today in Spain. The stand-up, screenwriter and monologist is renowned for his ability to improvise and interact with the audience, and his popularity attracts sell-out audiences all over the country, especially when performing in the Basque Country. The comedian, with more than 850,000 followers on Instagram and a million on Tik Tok, is currently touring Spain with ‘Esto no es un Show (This is not a show).

Isabel Pantoja CANCELLED at SOTOGRANDE
The Isabel Pantoja "50 Years" Anniversary Tour celebrates the prolific and successful career of one of Spain's most renowned singers. This 15-date Spanish tour, which began in late 2023, commemorates half a century of her career in the music industry, an impressive achievement that reflects her influence and legacy in the world of Spanish music.The tour kicked off on 23 September 2023 with a concert at the La Catuja stadium in her hometown of Seville. Isabel Pantoja, born in 1956 in Triana, Seville, is one of the most iconic and beloved artists in Spanish music. Over the years she has proved herself to be a versatile performer with a powerful and emotive voice. She has sung a wide range of musical genres, including copla, ranchera and pop, and has achieved both national and international success. In May it was announced that her concert in Sotogrande, due to take place on 20 July 2024, had been cancelled due to disagreements between the concert promoters. Their Nerja and Cordoba dates were also cancelled. The Almeria Bullring on 8 June 2024 is the only other Andalusian tour date.

Summer concerts spread over July and August 2024 at the Los Pinos fields of the Puerto Maria Polo Club,  Tickets are all general entrance at one price in the range 20 to 50 euro each. Most concerts start after nightfall at 22.30 hrs. Free parking is available.
