Shopping in Estepona

Most of the shops are situated in the town centre on Calle Real or Calle Terraza. There is a wide variety, including boutiques, souvenir shops, delicatessens, stationers and bakeries. Laguna Village.

Seven Estepona Watchtowers

There are about 100 different watchtowers (Torre Vigia or Torre Atalaya or Torre Almenara) along the coast of Southern Spain. Some are of Moorish origins others from date from the later Christian re-conquest period. All with the purpose of looking out for invaders from the South. They have lasted the centuries with remarkable strength.

La Ermita del Calvario

The hermitage building was built at the beginning of the nineteenth century, with records dating back to 1829. It is believed that this hermitage was at first constructed for lepers who were encouraged to reside out of town. Since 1875, however, the site was established as a sacred building. The original building was distroyed in the Civil War in May 1936 and the present structure rebuilt after the Civil War.

Museums of Estepona

Estepona has several small museums devoted to its history and culture as as an agricultural town: Bullring, three of the museums are located in the Bullring oposite the entrance to the port (access via Calle Matias Prats), They share the same entrance. There are no admission charges. Hours of opening are Tuesday to Sunday 09.00 to 16.00 hrs. Closed Monday. Tel: 952 807 148

Old Town Walk

Park the car in the underground car park under the seafront promenade and walk through to the pedestrianised Calle Real. Where this road crosses Calle Terraza is a good starting point. Have a look at the shops on Calle Terraza and pedestrianised Calle Real, and stop in at one of the traditional bars on Calle Caridad for an ice-cold fino (sherry) and tapa. Walk up to the attractive Plaza de las Flores.

Tennis courts are available for hire at the Municipal Sports Stadium, Avenida Santo Tomás and the La Viña Municipal Sports Centre at Calle Alcalá Galiano, s/n. Boating & Water Sports Centre.

Exe Estepona Thalasso & Spa- Adults Only

Exe Estepona Thalasso & Spa- Adults Only is on the Costa del Sol's Golden Mile, between Marbella and Estepona. The hotel with its sumptuous Thalasso Wellness Centre was opened at the beginning of 2006. The Thalassotherapy Centre, covering an incredible 2,000 square metres area, is the largest of its kind in Andalusia.

Castillo del Nicio

Situated on a hilltop called Cerro del Castor, between the deep valleys of Rios Padrón & Castor, are extensive ruins dating mainly from the late Moorish and Christian periods. They have been called the least visited, least studied and least well known of the major archaeological sites in the province of Málaga.

Parks and Gardens in Estepona

ully landscaped public parks in Estepona as well as public squares adored with flowers, Seafront Promenade, Plaza de las Flores and Orchid House plaza are in the old town. El Calvario park is at the top of Calle de la Terraza. The larger parks are located in the area to the west of the old town centre; Parque Huerta Nueva, Parque del Carmen, Parque La Constitucion. Further west are Parque de los Niños, Parque La Hermandad. Parque del Seghers. Outside Estepna town are Parque Pedregales and Selwo Wildlife park. Finally above 1000m, the Sierra Bermeja mountain behind Estepona is a protected natural area.

Park Beach - Estepona districts

Along the eastern coastline of Estepona, adjacent to the Guadalmansa district, is the area known as Park Beach. On the coastal side, it is a small area extending from the Park Beach development to Calle Tamesis. It is a low-density residential area and has a designated camping and caravan site.

Azata Golf Course Estepona

Estepona's newest golf course was opened in 2019. It has proved popular due to the spectacular views over the Mediterraean and well priced rounds and services.

Arriving in Estepona by Car

Estepona is located on the coast about 20km west of Marbella. The town has a bypass for through traffic along the coast. The town is best entered from the east (slip road off A-7 coastal highway then under bridge) or from the west turn right at 'Estepona' km 152 roundabout by Shell petrol station.You will now be entering the town via the old coast road.
